am new to dan wessons and the 357 with 8" barrel I just bought used from a gun shop had some binding issues that I have rsesolved to an acceptable level. The question I am asking about is that when the cylinder is closed it can pretty easily be moved in the oposite direction from the way it moves when you chamber another round. You can just keep turning it all the way around. A fellow at the range had a colt and it locked up tighter than a drum. No movement either way. Is this normal for the dan wesson?

No that's not right. The cylinder definitely shouldn't move more than a little bit. There should be a small piece of metal that come up in the bottom of the frame that locks the cylinder in place (the name escapes me at the momment). Sounds like it's not working properly.

Might be a simple as cleaning and lubing, but if you just got it, I'd say it worth having a smith take a look.
