Anyone have experience with Dan Wesson ECO? I am considering one of these and would like the hear from anyone who owns one. They are touted to be more reliable than a 3" barrel, thus 3.5" barrel. Officer's frame on a Commander slide. The recoil system is stated to last 15,000 rds. And it's a Wesson which, I understand has a pretty good reputation. Thanks....

Are you talking about a 9mm, a .40 S&W, a 10mm, a .45 ACP...what caliber are you referring to?

A 9mm CCO...I WOULD BE ALL OVER THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The accepted standard barrel length for compact/officer 1911 is 3.5", so the ECO is no different in length than any other compact/officer 1911 in that regard.

I have owned one and what you get is a superbly refined 1911 with just about every bull and whistle and all the fancy extras that are on high end models. It will make a Colt look like a Rock Island in terms of build quality, fit, and finish. If you like excess then you will love the ECO.

What I simply couldn't come to terms with is the price you pay for a gun that small that you are likely going to carry. It just seemed excessively expensive for a carry gun and really too small to do much else well. But aside from those things, I am a big Dan Wesson fan and own several Dan Wesson pistols myself.

And you say "officer frame on a commander slide" in your first post. That's something completely different called a CCO configuration. The ECO is not a commander length slide. The traditional commander size barrel is 4.25". Dan Wesson makes a model called the CCO that is a commander slide and officer frame. You say ECO, but your post describes a CCO. Which one are you asking about?

I have also had a CCO Dan Wesson and it is also a very nice gun. I never had any issues with that gun either. I think you will be well pleased with any Dan Wesson.

Dan Wesson CCO is a very nice gun and from everything I have read, is very reliable. The quality is about as good as you can get from a gun without going to a custom builder.

If you really want to drool, take a look at the Dan Wesson Valkyre. It is a CCO with a few more bells and whistles...and a few more dollar signs.
