If they would just come in for a dollar amount the average consumer can accept! I mean, what is wrong with these people? Even back in the day Dan Wesson made use of MIM parts to keep costs in line...now they want to bring back a piddling .357 for almost $1,000.00!?
CLEARLY they don't want to actually SELL anything!
If I'm dropping $1,000.00 the object is gonna have a .460 or .500 in its name!

What does a match grade semi-auto cost? Should a revolver really be different in our respect for it? Things cost what they cost, not what we would like them to cost. Really, it's just a matter of some people wanting the best and finding a way to get it.

The problem is till the great used DW revolver market dries up why pay pistol pack prices for something thats not gona be any better for less than half the price. Are you s&W guys gona pay what they want for 686 when you can find like new - used ones for half price?

A buddy bought a 586 a month ago and a 686 this last week , both localy. Word of mouth thing at the lumber yard. Not half price when there very nice but still used handguns. So gat out and talk to people. We also have a general store that sells at price's comparable to Bud's so they all ready start lower.

I don't think the price is out of line. Smith & Wesson have lots of over $1000 revolvers in their line, mostly the Performance Shop models.

Here's one that's $1100 Model 625, and it doesn't have any obviously expensive features, like being made out of titanium or scandium.

I'd be most interested in a Dan Wesson .44 Mag. A friend has one and I've shot it quite a bit and always loved the gun. The barrel interchangeability is a real plus.

It would be great if they brought back the pistol packs. It would also be nice if they had some wooden grips and blued steel guns, but I won't hold my breath waiting for those options to return.

I still think a moderate barrel length .44 is a fine gun for the mountains around here, where bear and cougar are plentiful. (Cascades, Washington). Load it up with specials and it's a fun target and plinking gun, too.

I bought a new Dan Wesson .357 in 1978 for less than $200. I wouldn't take today price or take a new Dan Wesson for it. I also bought a new Ford pick-up that same yr. for about $6000 wish I still had it. I'm sure it was better than the $35,000 Ford I own now.

I'm curios about the "value" responses.....Dan Wesson 1911 pistols are top end and command some pretty premium prices. I don't own any DW pistols but have handled and shot a few and they *are* top end pistols.

Why would a revolver revival be any less precision or top end? Nobody blinks about $1000+ Dan Wesson 1911 pistol...why would a new 15-2VH be deemed outrageously expensive? If the new revolvers are as good as the originals (or better?) NIB at around a Grand ain't that bad. I have an original and I'm seriously contemplating buying a new one to compliment.

VooDoo

We need to stop thinking of it as $1000 or a Grand, and start thinking of it as a single kiloBuck.

Dan wesson made a model 45, which is a large frame double action blued revolver in .45 Colt. The stainless version is a model 745.
