Kinda lookin' at the Dan Wesson Pointman 7 or the S&W 1911. They are same price with equal features, and I really like the adjustable sights on either. I have read only good things about both.

Same price and same features.....I go S&W. I really expected S&W's 1911 venture to be the joke of the firearms world. Now that they've been out a while, just about everyone that has one reports great satisfaction. DW are a bit hard to find around here. Haven't seen one in quite some time. The other thing with S&W is that they have the very best reputation in the industry for customer service.

You hit on one of my main concerns, service (if needed). I know S&W has a great reputation for service. The best scenario is where service is never needed.
The D. Wesson seems to use only the best componets at a very good price.

Well, I have the confidence in S&W b/c I have alot of S&W handguns and, to date, only one has gone back for service (it was a Sigma 357V with a bad mag catch).
I would still have more confidence in S&W. They've been building guns for a long time and this particular line looks like it's had one of the smoothest launches of any of S&W product lines. It's evidence that they spent the time needed to ferret out any problems and fix them. I really hate being a beta tester while paying nearly $1000 for the priviledge. Given the reputation of the line, I doubt you'll need service.
Probably good to look closely at both and see if there is discernable differences in fit/finish.
I almost bought a DW in 10mm. I happened to find a Kimber Eclipse 10 for about $200 under the going rate and nearly the same price as the DW.

What specific model of S&W are you actually looking at that's comparable price-wise with the Dan Wesson Pointman? I would think that even the basic S&W model w/ adjustable sights would be about $100 cheaper than the Dan Wesson. Or am I wrong about this?
I own a S&W 1911 (basic blued model with standard sights), and it has been great for the 1.5 years I have owned it. I have been thinking about adding a DW CBOB to my collection if I could find one locally to handle.

I got a Pointman7 just this week and took it to the range for the first time yesterday. I love this gun!! Price was $850 out the door. The only thing wrong was that the web site stated checkered coco bolo grips and mine came in plastic. I'm calling them tomorrow. I wouldn't hesitate a second in buying another. I posted a range report that is still on the board.

Regarding the Dan Wessons -- FWIW, I visited a local FFL a few weeks back up in Beaumont, where I was pricing a Razorback. He highly recommended the Dan Wesson, saying he had a Pointman 7 (I think it was pre-CZ, though) and that it was a great weapon. I've heard great things about both S&W and DW, though (the post-CZ Dan Wessons as well)...for my money it'd be whichever one shot better.

I have found a NIB S&W 1911 in stainless w/adj sights for $800.00 and the Pointman7 in stainless w/adj sights for $780.00. I don't consider the $20.00 as a deciding factor.
The Pointman7 claims: Series 70 stainless steel forged match grade bbl and bushing, bo-mar style adj target sights, and hand polished flat surfaces with contrasting bead blasted rounds. Front and rear cocking serrations, beveled magwell, lowered and flared ejection port. Ed brown slide stop and memory grove grip safety, tactical expended thumb saftey, wolff springs, one piece guide rod, and coco bolo grips.
