Now that Dan Wesson Pointman Seven and other models are discontinued and the new Dan Wesson models appear to be hundreds of dollars more, what do you guys think will happen to the value of existing models on hand out there? Are they likely to go up in price? Does anyone have any data on the sales volume of CZ produced Dan Wesson models?

I am not sure what it will do to older models but I believe the huge price increase was a colossal mistake which they will figure out quickly.

NIB guns have already seen a $100 bump. They have been going up for the past year even before the announcement.

If you have one that you got at a lower price enjoy. If you can get one sub $900 get it.

If you are looking to gauge people well stay classy San Diego.... LOL

Dan Wesson made about 3000 guns last year. They plan on making about 3500 in 2010.

They are a small company that makes much better than average guns. Being small means they can change their minds pretty quickly if they want to, I don't know what CZ had to say about the $$ increase.

The very best thing would be for DW to succeed in a big way, because they are pioneering a return to quality and away from "innovation" which is really just a cover word for "Cheap end runs around quality". DW has done more to cause a turn away from MIM and plastic than any other 1911 maker, I hope they get blessed well for it.

If DW fails we will see more and more high priced garbage masquerading as 1911's. :barf:

Nope, not trying to gauge people. It is just a nice feeling knowing that your gun collection is increasing in value.

the CBOBs and others i have seen lately on gunbroker and elsewhere seem to be priced $200 to $300 higher than i got mine for at the end of 2008. so, yes, i'd say the price is now higher.

used prices will not be affected.

NIB CBOB's that are still out there might see a price increase due to gunshop gouging, taking advantage of the new marketing news.

Nope... I have been watching them go up... ive got pretty good offers on mine recently!... some have been very tempting too.

^^^my buddy just sold his CBOB, only a hundred rounds through, for $750.

this is the best price he could get, and works at a high volume gun shop.

if you're friends are willing to pay you more now for your DW, i would take advantage and cash in, my friend. but that's just me lol. :)

I was skeptical of these DW's. I shot a pointman .45 and had good experience.
Great trigger/fit finish/attention to detail.

I say the Springfield TRP is my benchmark 1911 - what i compare other models against, I would throw some of the new DW's in the mix as well.

Checked them out at the 2010 Shot show :)
