Why, because the Remmy and the R&S dominate primitive weapon competitions with the nod going to the Remington.

All Uberti Remingtons even the basic models have adjustable sights. The Remington with its sights can handle heavy loads for hunting.

The Colts are great but just creating smoke only goes so far. Eventually you want to hit something. The last NMLRA pistol competition was won by a Pietta Remington. They win a lot. There is a reason for that.

I see. I don't think there are really any competition circles for that out here in Vegas except maybe cowboy action shooting, and no offense to anyone but I'm not really into that scene.

I would love to join an NSSA unit or the NMLRA but that all seems centered east of the Mississippi.

Im just looking for a fun gun to take to the desert and plink with, honestly.

Having eyes bad enough to keep me out of the draft, ringing steel or close targets are what I shoot and the Colt does that type of shooting better for me with a nice tight pattern.

The Dance quality is same as any other Pietta. I like mine and it's a fine design. regarding quality you always get hit and miss on that, some just better than others but almost all need attention out of the box to make them right.

How do the competition shooters get around the fouling issues with the Remington's. The two I have, A NMA by ASM and a 36 Navy by Navy Arms (Uberti) both foul after 12 shots, and in the interest of not overstressing the internals, require a dismount and base pin cleaning. The Colts will run for half a hundred shots or more.

Ballistol on the base pin makes my Pietta NMA work just fine. Prior it would begin to bind in the 3rd cylinder.

Guys please don't attack me on this one... but I'm also drawn toward the Griswold & Gunnison!! :uhoh:

Sorry, I've been researching and watching videos on Confederate revolvers. The Griswold & Gunnison is $100 cheaper than the Dance and is in .36 caliber.

Wonder which gun to go with??

The G&G is definitely the better looking revolver in my opinion. I bought my first revolver in 1976 and even back then the first thing I heard was stay away from brass frames. But, if used accordingly, why not.

Own a Griswold and Gunnison, bought last winter from EMF. Nice addition to my shooting collection. I use a Lee dipper, 1.0CC, lubed wads and a .375 ball in both it and the Spiller and Burr. 1.0 dipper is 15 grains. Too hot for a brass framer??????

It's so easy to pop out the cylinder that I wipe the main pin and face of the cylinder and relube between stages.

One of the many reasons I like, no, I love the Colts. I can shoot mine all day long without major fouling issues. Or just pop the wedge out wipe the arbor and you're good to go. But Remington's are pretty easy to keep clean you just have to do it more often.

Makes sense, did not know if time interval permitted that.

Yeah no problem, sometimes it's a little rushed shooting cap and ball categories anyway having to reload between stages and then putting caps on at the loading table. Just depends on how many people are in the posse and how fast things are moving. Bad thing is shooting cap and ball allows you less time to do your part helping with spotting and other things.
