A while back I PMd Old Fuff to ask about the feasability of converting a GP100 to .44 Special. He said before I did anything to buy this book and go from there. Well now dangitt, I have this sharp pain radiating from the general area of my checkbook! Where to start! What to buy! Why is my wife hiding the checkbook? Thanks Old Fuff! :cuss: :D

:)
Seems to be what Old Fuff does best.

I will gladly accept the Sedgley Ruger Vaquaro, The 1917 Redhawk, or Lightweigh Colt .45 SAA, if anyone is in a gift giving mood. ;)

Roy Fishpaw does some nice grips !

But Norm ...

I'm sorry ... I didn't think you would READ it, you were only supposed to look at the pictures ... while wearing dark glasses ... and blindfolded.

If I had known what would happen I would never suggest you get "Big Bore Sixguns" by John Taffin ...

I can see that from now on your wife must have total control of the family's financial affairs ...

PS: I haven't forgot about your new site. I'll be around as soon as I get over a hump of work assignments that came up as a result of the SHOT Show.

If your wife doesn't get her hands on me first ... :uhoh:  :D

Every now and then I read about old guys from the revolver era who had an enormous wealth of knowledge about the subject. More often than not they are looked on as curiosities in the auto era--a bunch of old guys with old guns. More frequently mentioned is the fact that the knowledge they built up with difficulty and over many decades is gradually fading away.
I dont know whether Old Fuff falls into that category (he could be 25 years old for all I know) but he sure sounds like someone who speaks with authority and is very generous with his knowledge.

Guys, when I was 25 I was giving Sam Colt advise ... You don't think he thought up that revolver design all by himself do you ... :neener:

Actually by profession I am supposed to know about all handguns, and my experience covers a little over a half century. The reason I've sort of specialized in revolvers on this forum is because I realize we live in an age of autoloaders now and not too many in the current or recent generations are into wheel guns. (Present company is exempted of course). And besides, I enjoy every minute. And while I didn't really know Sam Colt, I was fortunate to meet others such a Bill Ruger Sr., Bill Jordan, Skeeter Skelton, Elmer Keith, Danny Wesson, Roy Jinks, Charles Askins. Jeff Cooper and Rex Applegate - and a whole lot of others when I was old enough to keep my mouth shut and ears open. They taught me a lot, and I hope to pass it on. :D

And besides, I'm to lazy to bend over and pick up brass.

That's the cause of all his troubles ....

He bought that book ... :what:

His wife will never forgive me ... :uhoh: :D

>> That's why, good sir, you take someone "shooting" with you... <<

I would ...

But everybody is on to me ...

And besides they want to keep the brass ... :scrutiny:
