I'm thinking about getting the Daniel Defense 9.0 Lite Rail but first wanted to check in here to see if you guys have had any experience with them. I want to get it because my last rail would get loose often and get all wobbly, very annoying.

It looks to be like the Daniel Defense lite rails with the bolt lock thing would be very sturdy, is that true?

Also, do you really need the Daniel Defense wrench to install it? And does it just install to the barrel nut?

Any help would be great, thanks!

Very solid mount with no play at all. They use their own steel barrel nut. Attaches via 6 allen heads. GTG.

Whoever installs it will need the DD wrench, but an armorer (who already had one) installed mine so that helped.

I have a Daniel Defense Piston Omega Rail 7.0 on my POF P-415. The rail is absolutely SOLID with zero detectable movement. I use a LaRue QD LT-130 bipod adapter (shown below) with a Harris bipod when working up loads and with most of the weight of the rifle being supported by the Omega Rail there's still no movement. The POR 7.0 is a 3-piece rail that uses the existing POF barrel nut.

As said above, you absolutely need the wrench. I have a 12" Lite on an 18" barreled AR, and it is the bee's knees. Rock solid, I like the continuous top rail though I don't "need" it, and DD rails are also about the narrowest rails you can buy. My only complaint is that the 7.0 Omega rail on my carbine has a QD sling mount built in (see picture above) but the Lite doesn't. You can also check out the La Rue rail, a little wider, with QD sling mount, and you don't need a special wrench but you do need a strap wrench, and the La Rue doesn't have the continuous top rail.

Here is a handy chart from tacticalyellowvisor.net, by the same guy who puts out the famous AR-15 carbine feature "chart" from m4carbine.net.

if you HAVE to install yourself get the omega and a handguard tool. it should take about 5 minutes.

Well I ordered the Lite 9.0 and the wrench. I already have it prepped for a free float rail. I'm just kinda against the idea of tightening opposing threaded rings. To me it just never seems secure, same thing when I work on my mt bikes, couldnt stand it on them either.
