My 20 year old daughter got me a gift certificate for the local range where I shoot for fathers day. The stipulation to its use was that she go with me to the range.
Years ago, I taught all my kids to shoot, they were raised around weapons and were taught their safe use. My two older sons frequent the range with me but my daughter has had other interests of late. (full time college student, full time boyfriend and nearly fulltime work) She wanted to have a daddy and daughter day at the range.
I packed the case with my ruger Mk III, ruger 9mm, beretta .32 and of course, I had by witness carry gun with me. As she hadn't handled a weapon in many years, I gave her the basics with the .22 and set the targets out to 3 yards. I have got to say that she turned out to be an Annie Oakley. After about 50 rounds, I set her up with the beretta. She didn't care for that one as it has a tendency to bite between the thumb and first finger if you don't watch the slide. I loaded the 9mm and after the first few shots, she was able to zero that one in. I figured, what the heck, why not let her shoot the .40
She handled it like a pro.
We went thru 200 rounds of .22, 100 rounds of 9mm and 100 rounds of .40 and she enjoyed every minute of it.
I may have created a monster that will not let me go to the range without her. I couldn't have asked for a better day.

GREAT STORY! Thanks for your post I think that most dads would envy your time you get to spend at the range with your daughter!

Great..My 27yr old Grand daughter bought me a range membership for Christmas.....We are enjoying it together..If fact, we are going tomorrow..It's quality time......the last trip, she fired a snubby about 100 rounds,,tomorrow it will be my Smith 3913, and (maybe) my 4516..depends on how she handles the 3913.
