You may have noticed my SureFire Question below....I'm pretty confident that you use a number of 870s for HD. Do you use a light of any kind? Why, or why not? I'm sure you've given this some thought. Zebulon, the Teachable

Thanks, though I wax uncomfortable as a role model. I do have a couple 870s that are dedicated to HD/CD.

No light here. The most common scenario has us barricaded upstairs, with the head of the stairs covered. No light needed. I see no realistic need here and now to have to go looking for family members on other floors. Others needs differ, and in general a weapon mounted light is essential.

If I could find a decent light setup costing less than the weapon it's on, I'd get it, Justin Case.

I have tried the cheapos, including the Mini Mag with adapter. That one's bulb lasts for maybe 6 shots.

One of these days I'll spring for the Sure Fire or similar.

The SFs have the shock isolated bezel that keeps the bulb from being shocked from the recoil of the blast. Keep the light bro, keep the light!

Like dave i just couldnt pay in upwards of 250 bucks for a weapon mounted light. So i already had a surefire combat lite i bought for 60 bucks(pawn shop)and i mounted it to the extension tube right underneath the support that mounts to the barrel and mag ext.I simply used black nylon zip ties(three)and its flush mounted and strong as hell(wont even budge)believe me i tried.Ill put up picks as soon as i can!simple efficient and no cords or wires and looks good to.

Dave & Co. Thanks as usual for your input. I think it's wiser to hold on to what I have rather than sell it and pay twice as much to replace it later. Thank you all......Zeb

Check the Streamlight M3 Tactical Illuminator. It cost about $90 and only weighs 3.3 ozs. Has a constant or momentary on/off switch, can be easily mounted on your forearm with a small rail and you can put it on and off at will with a push of a button. It's easy to operate with either your weak hand thumb or your index finger, depending which side of the forearm you decide to mount it on. You can even take it off and mount it on your AR when you want.
