DDm4 scope issues

Picked up my brand new '14 model V7 today. AWESOME!!!
Well when we went to mount the Vortex scope with the RRA cantilever mount, the scope ran out of windage adjustment. So we tried a Burris cantilever mount. Same thing. Tried a different new out of the case scope. Same deal. Ended up using Burris rings on a rail riser with shims to get it to line up and bore sight.

This a common problem with ARs? Is this a big issue? Maybe a flaw from DD in the machining of the receiver?

Hopefully range day will prove to be a success.

That sounds troubling. I have the RRA mount on my AR and I'd bet my new Leupold took 3-4 clicks at most to center up. Can you put a straightedge along the rail and see if it aligns to the barrel?

So DD wrote back that the rail isn't straight... Kinda why I bought a DD was for their quality... I guess shims will work, but what if I use like an Eotech?
I guess I could shim an Aimpoint...

You've sent them an email, now send them a rifle and a polite letter...on their dime.

Yeah, said they will take the upper in and inspect it. Said the collar might be off.. The rail is not off. If there is an issue with the rail it will most likely be an issue with the collar under the rail. We can bring your upper in and inspect it and change the collar if necessary or I will be happy to send you a collar for you or a local gunsmith to replace. I apologize for any inconvenience. Please let me know what I can do to assist you in making sure you are 100% satisfied with your rifle.

Man I've been waiting on this rifle for a while. Hate to send it in but, I've also waited this long...
