Prepping 30-06 cases for the first time and am using the RCBS primer pocket swager and noticed that the Greek CMP brass has little or no crimp while Lake City brass is really crimped to the point that some cases were a bear to remove. I also noticed that commercial brass pockets were quite a bit larger than the swaging tool. Will seating the primers in the tighter cases ruin them or is this nothing to get worried about?
One other thing. I found that none of the 150 or so cases I worked on had to be trimmed. Is this normal for 30-06 ? TIA....J

Use some case lube on the swaging punch or primer pockets.

Makes things go a lot smoother.

I am not aware of any commercial cases having "quite a bit larger" primer pockets.

All GI or commercial primer pockets are made to fit the standard .210" Lg Rifle primer.

Hope your primer pockets stay tight, the swage should not effect the size, just where the crimp is.

Did you check the length to trim before or after you resized them?

You may want to consider purchasing the Wilson primer pocket reamer in case you run into trouble with seating primers after using the RCBS primer pocket swager. I used the primer pocket swager many decades ago and found that it was a bear to seat primers. The Wilson primer pocket reamer was a dream! It made a crimped primer pocket into a commercial pocket and even better. The tool creates a very smooth interior including a slick radius on the mouth.

I hope you have good luck!
