I've been wanting a CZ 75 with a stainless finish. I'd just bought a couple of guns and could not justify spending around $700 for another range toy when I stumbled on a deal on a chrome S-120 on Bud's though Slick guns. Bud's price was $449, but per Slickguns they'd take $335 through their Make an Offer option. I tried it, and sure enough it went through. At that price the kid in me couldn't pass it up.

I want to put wood grips on it, and am wondering if grips for the CZ will work.

I assume you know that the S120's "chrome" finish is really just chrome colored Ceracote.

I'm not concerned about that. I'm buying it as a range toy as I like the ergonomics and shoot CZ's well. I don't however, care for the plastic grips and will replace them with either Hogue rubber grips, or if I can find an inexpensive wood pair will consider those.

I've read that CZ grips will fit. I know CZ mags work because I've used them in my C100 and L120.

I put a set of CZ75 compact rubber grips on my C100. Fit like a glove and greatly improved the grippiness (? Is that a word?) of the gun.

The hard plastic grips that came on the gun were so slick I decided not to even fire the gun until I got some decent grip panels.

Almost a perfect fit

I put a pair of VZ grips on my S120. I had to ream the holes towards the trigger just a hair. Visually it looked like the holes lined up, but the threads wouldn't starts. A touch with the appropriate Dremmel bit and the screws went right in. I have ~1,600 rounds through mine and the grips are still perfectly tight.

Congrats on the new range toy. I think the S120 is the best deal there is on a new hand gun right now.

Close call between the SD9VE, the Tristar guns, and the Ruger 9E in my opinion.
