My brother, a Navy pilot, just moved to Kennesaw (lucky him), and asked for some recommended gun dealers and ranges, indoors or outdoors.

Anyone with recommendations ?

Thanks.

Hotshots, in Smyrna. Guys know what they are doing there--the range is clean and safe and they don't gouge on pricing.

Finding a place to shoot around Kennesaw is not easy. There is a great gun shop, though. It's C3 Sports. The original location is on Nathan Dean Blvd in Dallas, Georgia, which is close to Kennesaw. I know they just opened a new location, too. I think the new location may be in Kennesaw, itself.

As the name implies, C3 carries lots of neat "Class III" stuff like machine guns, short barrel rifles and shotguns, and suppressors. They're a full range gunstore, though, with everything from milsurp bolt actions to modern hunting rifles, etc. They're also the largest Glock dealer in Georgia, the last time I heard, and carry a full range of other handguns. The staff is also very knowledge -- my father works there.

Best place to go hands down is Adventure Outdoors on Windy Hill Rd in Smyrna for equipment, but they don't have a range though. They have the best prices of anyone else. They are nice and very knowledgable.

I have compared Ed's Guns in Kennesaw, off of Canton Rd, Hotshots in Marietta, off of Austell Rd and C3 Sports, off of 41 and also is Dallas, off of 61 and by far, Adventure Outdoors has everyone beat.

Ranges are: Ed's Guns, Hotshots, Tactical Concepts in Douglasville and an outdoor honor system range in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, called Chestnut Mountain Shooting Range, which is excellent.

Chestnut mountain is a little ways away. Exit 320 on 75N, but it is $5 for the entire day, honor system, very nice place.

Hotshots are pretty strict in their regulations regarding doubletaps and holster draws, etc. Also, they have had problems with their A/C and lighting.

Ed's is where I would recommend for indoor shooting.

Anyway, there's my advice.
