We recently moved -- can anyone recommend a good indoor or outdoor pistol range near Sugar Land, TX?

Thanks in advance,
Rich

I was just there last weekend and wondered the same thing. My look in the phone book showed the same, but it was Sunday evening and no time to go. The future may hold a move there for me too.

There is an indoor range off of Chimney Rock between the SW Freeway and Richmond. I can't remember the name but I think it is Top Choice. It is on a side street but has a sign on the corner ( on the right as you go towards Richmond)that hold signs for several busineeses. I've never shot there myself but have driven by. I'd bet that Fountain Firearms Highway 6 at Bissonett (SE cornrer) would be able to tell you. Fountina is one of the better gunshops in Houston by the way.

I think the indoor one in the city of Houston you are thinking of is Top Gun. They are at 5901 Beverly Hill B, Houston, TX 77057 - topgunrange.com is their web address. I did my CHL renewal there and it is a nice range. I think it changed hands since then.

If you are in Sugar Land, <begin commercial> you might consider joining Bayou Rifles - we have an outdoor range near there (just down 521 from Arcola) with 3,7,15 yard, 25,50 yard ranges, and rifle ranges out to 1,000 yards. Bring your deer rifle, milsurp, or match rifle out Sunday for the 60-shot prone match and see the range / meet the people. </end commercial>

Have fun, shoot well!

Regards,
Andrew

Thanks for the info and the question. I was looking for a rifle range to use nearby instead of going out with my Dad to my grandmother's land near Columbus. My cousins get upset if I shoot down there in the Fall. :) I may have to take a trip around Houston this weekend to check them out.

For indoor pistols, I tend to use Marksmen over off HWY 3 other side of I-45 from Hobby Airport. They are cheap, friendly, and open 7 days a week, though not in the best part of town. There are quite a few pistol ranges around town.

I have stopped by that Top Gun range before, but did not shoot. They have a number of pistols for rent.

I've been going to Top Gun since I hit town in Feb. All experiences have been pleasant so far.
I'll have to try the outdoor range ASAP. I've got some rifles I've never shot. The horror, the horror. ;)
