Glock 27. I love mine. It's a small gun that shoots like a big gun.
I even like it and shoot it better then my CZ 75B in .40. And that's a big heavy gun.

M&P 40 compact. Probably the best hot weather concealed carry piece I own.

Springfield EMP .40. Solid gun. Forged frame. Very easy to conceal. Easily handable recoil. But you have to like 1911. This is the most comfortable carry gun I have and easieat to carry.

A Glock and a Sig are two completely different firearms. You are going to have to decide between polymer or metal, striker fire or SA/DA, and ability to shoot reloads vs. inability to do the same.

For carry, polymer's a good choice. It tends to lighten up the load. If I were you and I wanted to stay in .40, I'd stick with the Sig 239 or Smith and Wesson M&P compact. The M&P is the equivalent of the Glock but with much better ergonomics and Smith lets you shoot reloads.

For what it's worth of the M&P's value. I can tell you that I had one, sold it to fund another purchase, and couldn't stop kicking myself until I bought a replacement. The M&P really is a fantastic carry weapon.

S&W M&P40c

It's one of the most accurate and soft shooting .40s I've ever shot.

i don't have alot of experience with a variety of compact 40s, but i now own a S&W MP40c, and i couldn't be happier with my purchase

for all the hoopla over the kick/recoil of the 40S&W round, i was beyond surprised at how little recoil i felt when i shot the MP40c

i won't poo-poo other guns/manufacturers, but i will tout something that i have experience with. the MP40c would be worth your time to consider

My cousin recently purchased a Kahr P40 with night sights. It is definitely a very concealable gun and it shoots well. I had the chance to put twelve shots through it myself.

I think I would like something a little wider. I just didn't feel like I had enough gun to hold on to with the recoil. It is something that would probably get more comfortable with use. If I was looking to drop $750 on a .40S&W it would be on my short list.

What, you can't shoot reloads in Glock .40's? There's been countless threads and arguments on here, among other sites, to the contrary.

Might want to check out the new SD line that S&W just came out with.
I have an M&Pc in 40. I would only go SD if you have budget constraints. The SD is cheaper for a reason. No interchangeable grips, no compact version.

My M&Pc is proving to be a good carry gun. I will say I'm 6'1" 170lbs, so pretty skinny. My M&P is unobtrusive but not invisible. I don't mind, but you might. And, admittedly, it could be my holster and not the pistol.

Recoil was brutal for the first 500 rnds. or so but we adapt and overcome. I've grown really attached to this pistol. I have a tendency to fall for pistols that never jam.

The past few days, I've been researching the M&P compact and the results are appealing. I think that's the route I'm going to go. It looks like I can purchase one for around $550, which is the price range I was looking for.

I would stay away from the Kahr CW40. It's been a real dissapointment. I only have experiance with the CW mod. I've heard good things about the rest.
I would have to say exactly the opposite about my CW40.

I have been really happy with my Glock 27. With the 9mm & 357sig conversion barrels you get a lot of versatility. I also have a SW40VE that has been reliable, but it's a Sigma:eek: Sigmas have a bad name in the industry. It's the 12 lbs. trigger pull that everybody hates. I don't mind it. I've become a better shooter because of it, but that's just me.

Mudinyeri.....to be fair, I must admit that my CW 40 is the only Kahr I've fired. It is fun to shoot as long as I'm not picky about the target size or reliabilty issues. It was the "solid feel" of the gun, plus the fact that it is American made that sold me. I guess it's just more of a personal preference. The Karh CW owners I've talked to at my local gun shop like it. Complaints about accuracy issues are the only negative comments i've heard. I'm not at all giving up on the gun. I plan on putting at least a couple of hundred more rounds through it after church. I may learn to like it eventually just as I did my 2003 Kimber and the Bersa .380 thunder Del. (what a fun little gem that has turned out to be). Some guns just take time to "get to know."

I absolutely love my Glock 27 like many other folks have offered up, but my little PM40 is now with me most of the time in the right front pocket of my Levi's, or even the lightest pair of shorts.

And contrary to what many say about the PM40's recoil, controlability, and shootability, it's a nice all-day shooter at the range. It's a fun gun indeed.

Depending on what you shoot, besides the Kahr, it can definitely take some "getting to know." I have several XD variants and a Beretta 92FS. The Kahr is VERY different.

Another vote for the Glock 23.....and I've shot thousands and thousands of reloads through a number of different Glocks. Anyone who says you can't shoot reloads through a Glock is misinformed.....or worse.

Another option is the CZ 2075 Rami.

I second the RAMI
