I currently own a few guns in .45 and 9mm and I want to add some variety. I really want a .357mag revolver but since my wife was attacked once by an assailant w/a wheel gun, the likely hood of a .357mag making it into my small collection is doubtful. I may add the .22 Kadet kit conv. at some point but don't have a great desire for a .22 at the momment.

With all that said...now for the real question. What gun manufactures make a compact size (3.x"-4" ish bbl) that the barrels can be swapped out "on the fly" for .357sig and .40s&w preferably using the same mags but not necessarily? I know one of the Glocks does this adding 10mm to the mix but I REALLY don't want a Glock. Very reliable...durable...good gun(s)...butt U G L Y!! I want something that is functional for carry (even though I really can't in MD :cuss: ) but fun to shoot at the range as well.

Well, HK, SIG, and the SA XD come to mind. Of the 3, I'd go w/ the USPc 40 and get a 357sig barrel for it.
