Before the shortage of 7.62 NATO ammo, I was able to buy it cheap.

I'm not here to debate the why's or the wherefore's of increased prices.

I'm just looking for opinions on what 7.62 to put through my G3.

The local shop has Wolf 7.62 for $325 or so per 1,000 rounds. I've seen some Indian (as in East India) brands for less.

I've had good luck with Wolf Ammo as a .223 plinking round. Just wondering what people's experiences are with the Wolf 7.62.

It's OK. Truth is that if you can get it and it's in stock, buy it. That's an awful price but it's available.
I've shot some in my M14 and it worked fine. As accurate as the Pakistani surplus stuff I have so usable.

Ammoman said he got an email from Lake City and there won't be any more of that until 2008 at the earliest.

Sportsmans Guide has the Wolf for sale at $270/1000 but not in stock yet, expecting delivery in May. I ordered some anyway to get that price.

warrifles forum had some guys shooting the Indian and the reports were so so on that.

It's going to get worse before it gets better I'm afraid. :(

Seems like all ammo has gone up. Even 7.62X39 is expensive now. Seems it wasn't long ago that they were practically giving it away at gunshows.

DO NOT SHOOT INDIAN AMMO IN YOUR G3!!!!!!!!! or any other rifle that u dont want to explode. The indian ammo has very BAD!!! quality control problems!! ie. double powder charges, very thin brass, split brass, etc... it also has TAR, yes i said TAR, sealing the bullets and your G3 with the fluted chambers will get full of this tar and WILL!! malfunction!!!!!

Careful which Indian you badmouth kemosabe. There are thousands of rounds of (6 cents a round shipped) 70's vintage curry fury down range with nary an issue....:)

There are several lots and manufacturers of the stuff.

Some are OK some are real bad.

Just that it's Indian isn't enough info to condemn it.
