my only concern here is that keltec’s lifetime warranty only applies to the original, first, purchaser of a new firearm, but $159 otd is truly compelling. i would worry a bit why this particular p17 was sold off by its original owner so quickly.

I hear what you're saying. My LGS gives a 30 day money back & they would take care of any issues with the P17 after that. The LGS doesn't think it's been fired at all. I'll be picking it up tomorrow, by the end of the weekend it will have been fired about 1000 times as long as everything goes well.

Kel Tecs are pretty much hit or miss. They outsource a lot of their parts and it's not uncommon for them to have problems. They will fix them, but we all know what a pain that is. That is my experience dating back to 2000 or 2001.

It's not 2001 anymore and regardless of the brand any company can ship a problem gun. Kel Tec is better than some regarding customer service, but the #1 lesson with Kel Tec is wait 1-2 years after they introduce a new model before buying. Not only are more available and at a lower price, but they're better quality.

Picked it up this afternoon. Doesn't look used at all. Belonged to one of the LGS salesman and was rarely shot. Headed to my range with the plan to shoot my Ruger 22/45 MKIV, but my curiosity got the best of me and deceided to run a few mags through the P17. The Ruger never made it out of my gun bag. I shot 200 rds of CCI MINI RN & 100 rds of Federal Automatch and did not have a single failure of any kind. The trigger got noticeably better by the 200 round and althrough not a target gun it shot pretty darn accurately once I sighted it in (which were way off) FUN FUN GUN!!!
