Decline in range use

Exact opposite here. Membership has is privileges, one of which is not being 7th in line at our club when the public descends after work, on weekends, etc. Still going strong in Central FL.

I shoot at a niclely equipped and maintained public range. No use charge to users. The regulars are pretty much there as usual on thier days. The number of who are they's is down. The regulars are all older guys who have been thru these shortages before and simply increased their inventory of loaded ammo and reloading supplies well before this shortage hit. But even as well provisioned as we are we have cut back on number of rounds fired. These guys are not hoarders or scalpers. Simply prepared for the rainey days we are having. They won't sell a round.

My club has about 225-250 members. Only in the fall nearing hunting season do I see a few other members at the range.

I do see signs of other shooters but it isn't all that much.

At least the members are supporting the club by renewing so it will be there when good times return.

no ammo, no shooting

That pretty much sums it up. In my area we are still feeling the drought and ammo is few and far in between.

During the last few months, most of the indoor ranges here have been slow or damn near empty. I have gone a few times when I'm the only one at the range. I have personally not gone shooting as much because it has not been cheap to replace what I shoot.

For what it's worth, I was on a waiting list for a "local" range club that is about 45" away.

I submitted my application two years ago and they finally sent me a welcome letter. They require $300.00 for my first year of dues, and $200.00 as a deposit for labor I will work off. They expect at least eight hours of general labor on the grounds and buildings and then they will return the $200.00. Right.

I might not mind the yearly dues, but if they have so much demand for membership the till must be full and they can very well afford to pay somebody a fair wage and keep them busy. Needless to say, I used the back of that letter for a honeydo list.

My favorite range is about 1 1/2 hrs away and I will make that special trip every couple of months. Outdoors, variety of distances, nice clubhouse with a weapon cleaning area.
As private ranges go, that's cheap. You should try indoor range fees. How much do you spend on a day out in your boat on the lake (or your favorite pass time)? One needs to keep things in proportion.

I honestly prefer shooting at the public range which is about an hours drive over the private range which is 15 minutes. I just like the range out in the woods.

I haven't been shooting much since January. The ammunition shortage kind of kills the spirit. But I still have ammunition. Just bought a box 40 S&W at Walmart today. Could have bought more, just didn't want to spend the money.
