Trying to see if they have a trigger in stock for my CVA. I ordered online ramrod thimbles and a ramrod retainer spring online about 3 months ago. When I tried to see abut a trigger. the site gave me a 404 error. Now the basic home page is up but the products page doesn't work. Tried calling and all you get is busy signals. Beginning to wonder how they stay in business unless they have a huge OTC turnover of products off the street. I guess I'll have to order the front trigger from Numrich Parts and hope it matches well with the rear trigger. I'd rather have a factory trigger group as I have a feeling i am going to be doing more than a little stone work to get a good mating of surfaces. Might be a $25 investment in frustration.

Funny you should mention them. I was just trying to look at the website myself and only about half of it works. I hope they aren't going belly up. I have bought a few things from them and was hoping a certain rifle came back in stock. Oh well.

Deer Creek was one of the last outfits to build a website.
We always needed to refer folks to them by giving out their phone number and they still had a mail catalog when every other outfit had a website.
And then one time their building was hit by a tornado and they needed a lot of time to clean up the mess and reorganize.
I think that half of their roof was torn off.
Even back then they were not always answering their phone as it seemed to be a part time business.
But once you were able to make phone contact they were usually very helpful, although I haven't had a reason to call them in years.
As a long time Traditions dealer, I recall that they were willing to obtain any item from Traditions that a person wanted to buy at a fair price.

I had called them a couple of months ago to see if they were going to get any more of the Traditions full stock Kentucky rifles in 45 caliber back in stock. The guy told me they were on order and to check back. Thats why I was just checking the site to see if they ever came in. I should have bought one when they had two in stock. My goof.

Well since the phone is busy all day it is pretty hard to order anything. I emailed them and no response. Wasn't but a couple-three months ago I ordered ramrod thimbles and retainer spring from them and all went well.

I can get CVA parts to show up on their site but nothing else. Looked last week and they were listing almost everything else as out if stock

CVA parts don't show up for me. Online products/parts page shows up but click on CVA parts listings and nothing loads.

well I emailed them about the traditions flintlock 36c rifle as I want one for squirrel hunting but no response! so I may order a 32c flintlock from dixie gun works soon!

It appears they are updating the website

I hope you're right Jon. There are some parts I want to order from them. That doesn't explain why the phone is off the hook though.

Midland man if you are talking about the fullstock 36 Pennsylvania rifle I would hold out for one. I had one and like a dumb butt sold it. It was a fine shooting gun. I like the 36 better than the 32s I have owned. And you can shoot 357 hollow base wadcutter bullets from it just like a small Minnie Ball.

yep I want to try hunting squirrels with a flintlock rifle and also isn't the ramrod slightly bigger on the 36c vs 32c rifles?

I have shot a 32 and a 36 out to 75 yards and if there is any wind at all the 32 shoots all over the place. The 36 is much better but still wind sensitive. The 32 is cute and if you don't stretch the range its fine. I just felt the 36 had a broader range of use. You could use the 36 on a deer if you had to. The 32 would be risky. And the deer takes all the risk.

But I do believe you can get TC conicals in 32 and 36 caliber. That would up the power and the odds. Me, I just like 45 caliber guns. Far more useful for me. I have shot and ate squirrels but they are not on the top of my "food to pursue" list.

I hunted cottontails with my 45 A LOT. Shot the heads off of em. I wuld LOVE to get this CVA 50 Mountain Rifle up and running and see if it can do the
same.

ratshooter I try to get within 20-30yrds when I squirrel hunt so my question is? how does the 32c vs 36c play within that range and and also whats the max range for each one as far as accuracy goes? thanks!

Here's some old 50 yard targets from two initial sighting in sessions with .36 rifles that were both new to me.
The first was a mongrel CVA .36 squirrel rifle that had an unmatched sight set that could not be properly zeroed.
So I had to aim below the target and it was the final loadings of 777 that I tried that seemed to work okay at the end of the range session.
This gun also had a heavier trigger pull.

Below was another new .36 rifle called the Frontier Gander that was made by Traditions with a slightly longer barrel & fired under a similar situation,
the first time shooting it and trying loads of 777.
The front sight on the Frontier Gander is more rounded & coarse, but it has a double set trigger.
A person can shoot a .36 rifle as far as its sights will allow it to shoot straight at a stationary target.
A longer barrel and finer sights should allow for better long range accuracy.
If you could only get the squirrels to wear orange and to sit still, there's no telling what the distance limitation would be! o_O

IIRC, a storm took the roof off of their shop... or it flooded... about a year ago, and they might not be back on their feet yet.

I ordered a thimbles and a ramrod retainer spring from them 3 months ago. Emailed them AGAIN last evening. No reply once again. If you are so busy you can't answer a phone get someone who can and add a line or 2. Just a poorly run business in my opinion. If you want people to buy your stuff then cover your bases.

According to Google Maps, the Hoosier Auto Center is just down the road (765) 525-9391.
Maybe they have some insight on the situation.

I just talked to the owner on the phone a little over 2 months ago so I don't think thats it.
