Mohicans info was dead-on from my experience.

RE: Interstate Wildlife Violators Compact Act.

It does NOT allow you to be tried in your home state for a violation committed in another state/jurisdiction.

What it does is allows the arresting officer the discretion of issuing a citation for court in HIS JURISDICTION, and allowing you to come back to court later, or simply pay a fine. This alleviates the necessity of PHYSICALLY ARRESTING the violator and IMMMEDIATELY TRANSPORTING the violator to JAIL AT THAT TIME.

Imagine that you are 2mi. from the vehicle, out of state, and waste deep in a swamp duck hunting. (Or in my case before retiring, checking duck hunters- hence the name "Goose-Gestapo"!!!).

Do you really want to have to spend the rest of the day taking someone to Jail to post a $200 cash bond on charge of an unplugged shotgun?

The law also allows your home state to suspend your hunting priviledges for not paying fines incurred in another state as well as the state where the offense was committed, or repeated serious violations in ANY state where the court of jurisdiction suspends or revokes your priviledge/right to hunt.

It works just like the Interstate Drivers License compact act. Only beware, not all states are participating members! Only about 30 the last time I had any dealings with it (2003) Just like until a few years ago, Lousiana took ALL out of state offending drivers to jail for posting of a bond or preliminary/committal hearing for driving violations prosecuted.

This only applies to misdemeanor or "violation" type offenses. I does not apply to felonies or Misdemeanors of High and aggravated nature.

But, you can avoid the whole issue by just being law-abiding!!!!!
Hey, what a novel idea!

Good Hunting !!

P.S.
Sure would like to see if J.F. Kerry had a hunting license, hunter safety card, and State and Federal Waterfowl licenses!!!! Would like to disect his ammo too!!!

HMMMMMM, wonder if that O/U he had was "Plugged" to only hold three shells? (a joke you know!!! Sorry, but some would not "catch" that!)

I just loved the look I got on some faces of hunters using s/s or O/U when obviously they had everything else perfectly legal when I would ask them to show me how the gun was plugged!!!!

See, its not always "serious", you know!!!!
