DeKalb Officer Driving On Expired Tag

DECATUR, Ga. -- Channel 2 Action News has uncovered a DeKalb County police officer who hasn't paid for his car tag in seven years.

We found patrolman Eric Ford driving on a tag that expired in November 2000.

He's had his tag run 127 times by various police agencies including 89 times by his own DeKalb Police Department.

But he's only been given one ticket and thought he'd gotten out of it.

DeKalb County's police chief says there are no excuses.

“This officer for whatever reason seemed to have a deadbeat spirit and at the end of the day the public and rest assure that we are going to deal with him," said Chief Terrell Bolton.

As a result of our investigation DeKalb Police are now running checks on all employee cars; six officers have been caught so far.

Great, the chief is going to "deal with" the offending officer.

Who is going to deal with the cops that let him off the hook 127 times?

It feels good to know that we are all equal under the "eyes of the law."

It's also off topic. If someone wants to convince us how this is firearm rights or civil liberties related it can be reopened.

Another case of the fact the police are human beings just like everyone else has been proven....
