So its been about 35 days since I put in for my second pistol permit.
I talked to the police today, let me point out that in my town they are very helpful, and the guy who handles this is good at what he does.
I called today, and I was told that they delay is the mental health, (let me point out that mine is clean).
Apparently the mental health checks from the county (I think, if any one can confirm this) are taking longer than usual.
He has faxed the request 2x and is still wating on a response.
Meanwhile my kimber sits in a safe at the range...sigh...
anyone else in NJ hearing this.
I am in Bergen county.

They are supposed to take 30 days by law. The cops were very aware that it was taking too long, and I am hoping to get it early next week....you may be right about that Buck Snort, IN NJ, only 60% of us are under indictment! Thats why it takes the other 40% so long to get anything done around here...

If you live in the more affluent areas of Bergen County, such as Ridgewood, Waldwick, or Mahwah, go ahea and sit down somewhere for the next six months. You may even get your permit before it's expired!

I live in hackensack, not exactly affluent...but its not the town in this case, its the county health dept....

I bought a pistol yesterday, and darn, I had to wait until I got the 4473 filled out and paid my money before I could leave with it. This waiting for permits and background checks and this and that is a pain......

OH Wait, this is TEXAS. We don't have all that bull corn. Thank the Lord for common sense politicians in TEXAS.

Heck, you could move here but please leave your idiot politicians there

I'm so glad I don't live in NJ anymore .

I applied for the FID card in 2006 and never received anything

but I live in PA now so I could care less

It's not the county it's the State Police Mental Health Check.....

You paid the $ 18.00 right???

If so My last round of permits took 45 days.....I LIVE IN A VERY gun friendly town. All the delay was the SBI check...

Also so you know that if you are within the 90day permit period and apply for additional permits you DO NOT have to pay the 18$ SBI check.

I had a nice conversation about that with our new records person...she was asking why i did not have my 18$..I informed her I did not have to have to supply that...as I was within the time frame...

She said..." do not get used to that he will not like it..." I asked whom HE was...she could not provide an answer and seemed flustered....

Ahh the glory of living in NJ....in about 10years I think I am going to South Carolina.....

the last permit to purchase was given to me on 2/28/09, so I am within the 90 days. the officer said its been a while since he's had to get on the county for the mental health check...does that make any sense?

NJ so silly.

Check out NJCSD.org, they have some info and resources to help. Good people.

Also, are you supporting Lonnegan for Governor? He's openly pro 2nd and should get our support!

Finally got it today.
Kimber in hand, and on way to range....what a pain in the ass...

Next time Im applying for 2 at a time..

Hey, at least you don't have to go to court every time you want to add a pistol to your license. That was a "fun" trip last time. Then again, we don't have to pay for a mental health check every time we want to add one, so maybe I should count myself lucky in that regard.

One question - you were allowed to buy it and put it in a safe before the license came back? Did you buy it from the people at the range, or are you allowed to buy the gun first, as long as you don't possess it?

I bought it, then had my ffl stick it in his safe for me.
You cant take possession of the gun, but its yours...LOL

Whew... Im tired all of this courting, visiting and checking in guns at the range no less up there in Jersey.

Come out west and south where common sense most of the time eliminates such bull.

Also I seem to remember just being in Jersey was a delay.... in the work schedule and everyday life.

Oh, okay - it sounded like they had allowed you to get it, take it to a range, and then lock it up there. This makes more sense.
