(And we wonder who are the "racists"?)

Guns for the rich, but no guns for the poor.

Ask voters to have a free government issued ID card, and Democrats will oppose the measure. According to Democrats, how dare the government oppress the poor by asking them to get a free government issued ID card

However, when it comes to gun rights, Democrats approve of just about every regulation and fee that could be imagined. Even if the fees disproportionately affect the poor, state legislators vote to keep the fees in place.

The Chicago Tribune has an article that lays bare the facts about Democrats and their oppression of gun rights – How Democrats keep guns in the hands of the rich.

NFA was a forerunner. While $200 is not a fortune today for many folk, in the 1930s it was a heckuvalot of money for most people.

Today getting a permit is not just a significant amount of money for the less well heeled, it's the time which also usually means a day off work unpaid. Add renewals and it is just another nickel and diming along with vehicle tags, stickers etc.

When you get down to the food stamp level, among people that really need it, the cost of a decent gun and ammo (including practice) is high enough for them.

In today's dollars an NFA stamp would run over $3600.

That is very much a "poll" tax to keep guns out of the hands of - who?

The militia. Define it as you like, anti gunners don't want the public armed at all, much less effectively. It impedes them imposing a new future on those who don't want to march forward to their vision.

Just like Venezuela.

Can't agree more. To get a CCW here requires taking a course which is minimum 65usd, then tack on 150usd+ to apply for the license. The whole issue is that government wants to pass whatever laws it likes with no hope of opposition, especially laws that allow them to take what you own and buy more votes (while they skim a few $$s off the top as it passes through their hands). That's what happens when a constitutional republic gets turned into a de facto democracy after the politicians and lawyers replace a simple contract with years and years of "precendent".

A greater proportion of the members of the Democratic party may favor gun control than
in the Republican party, but neither party is monolithic on the issue, so the premise of the quoted article is false and the article itself unnecessarily divisive.

Please remember this, as for us at THR it is about anti vs pro gun politicians. Other than the fight over gun rights, we don't do politics.
