Some of the 308 brass I have has these little dents on the shoulder will they be an issue? The brass is once fired but not from me. What could have caused these dents? IMG_20210501_135457324~2.jpg

I was assuming they were only fired once and not reloaded. These dents were present prior to me resizing them. So you think they were reloaded before by someone else?

I just started reloading for rifle but have been doing pistol reloading for years.
When I lube my rifle brass I swirl around 40 or so cases in a stainless steel dog bowl and spray at the same time with Hornady one shot Case lube spray to give them a light coat.

Odd they most likely would have popped out after firing. Could be caused during ejection but I have never seen that but I only have a few 308's. Still I wouldn't worry.

Once fired, pre-sizing? If so, what gun was used? May be "extraction/ejection dents". My Garand left dents on the case body and rim, depending on load, from hitting part of the gun as they were flung out...

Usmc for that little of quantity grab you a little tub of imperial lube. It'll most likely outlast you. I just don't trust one shot except for lightly lubing pistol brass.

The dents occur because the lube is still very wet from the aerosol spray. You need to allow the stuff to evaporate a minute before re-sizing. I found a soft lube also made by Hornady called Unique solves the problem and it lasts a very long time and dents don't happen.(3 years and a couple of thousand cases later and it's only half gone.) Cost was $8 at Cabalas. Touch the stuff with index finger and thumb it along the shell body and shoulder; the neck isn't necessary, but I do put a dab of a Q-tip and go inside the neck. Haven't had a dent since I started using it.

Somebody else may have resized them before you got them. That dent will iron out on the next firing in any event. The only dents that are dangerous are the ones that have a gouge or sharp fold that may rupture next firing. I have had case necks that have been stepped on and flattened split on the next firing when I try to use them.
