I belong to a few other forums and some of them offer regional portions to the site. Regional information is great for a number of different reasons.

I was thinking of putting together a comprehensive guide to Denver area shooting resources. It would include information about public and private ranges, gun shops, local training programs, army surplus, reloading resources, and contact information for local shooters.

It could be much more than just a yellow pages entry. It would be more like a review so that we could know what to expect when getting there. This would be especially true to ranges and shops.

I think the best reason to have something like this is so we can have easier access to other friendly shooters in the Denver area. It will make it much easier for us to socialize, find shooting buddies, try out new guns, or even find a baby-sitter so we can go to the range. Perhaps the more experienced of us could teach a bit to the less experienced. Experienced reloaders could provide some 1st hand know-how to those looking to start. I’ve learned that watching something done is much easier than reading about it done.

It may even encourage some of us to be more active in our local politics if we had some additional shooting buddies in the area.

I put together a VERY barebones page on my web site. It has a single link to some basic shooting range info that I through together. Check it out and let me know if anyone would be interested.

Something like this would require a great deal of interaction and input from our visitors. I’d rely primarily on others to get the information to me and I could make it available for everyone. It would be as simple as writing a 1 paragraph description of a local range or shop.

I think this is a GREAT idea! Even better, hopefully others will follow your lead. Not only will it help locals to know when, where and how to meet, but it will be invaluable to visitors to your area who want to do more than just smell the roses. Hope you get good feedback and response.
