Have a chance to buy, from a friend who needs money, a Desert Eagle from Magnum Research. 45ACP, 1911. Friend knows I want another quality 1911 and is offering this at a fair price. I checked the list price plus Gunbroker and that the price is within bounds and I would be happy paying it.

My problem is I know NOTHING about this brand pistol. Any guidance about it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would buy it if the price is right.

They remind me of the quality that Kimber had when they came on the market. A friend has two, a 5" and a 4.25". The 5" ran great out of the box and the 4.25" had some extraction issues before I tuned up the extractor for him.

The Desert Eagle 1911 is actually made by BUL in Israel. The only complaint people seem to have is the giant rollmark on the slide.

Depending on the price, they are sold performers. Nothing special, but a solid gun.

I handled three 1911 DE's while shopping recently. Out of the box, excellent trigger action, absolute par with the sub-1K Kimbers. I also noticed a fairly tight slide-to-frame fit. Things I liked also were the beavertail and a long thumb safety lever. I could live without a full size guide rod, but the DE has it. The big letters didn't bother me too much.

Magnum Research has earned a good reputation, their product lineup is a little extravagant but no real turkeys.

I looked closely at one the other day at a local shop. I was very impressed! fit and finish looked good and from what I could tell, the trigger was quite nice right out of the box.
