Any interest in this new caliber? I see barrels are available on their site. I assume I can pop the .429 bbl in my DE XIX and use the 50 AE bolt and mags. Only thing holding me back is ammo. Won't jump on this until Starline offers brass and I can get a set of dies. May be a while but it's on my radar.

I don't understand the need for a faster 44 mag cartridge? But evidently some people need one.... which is why the 440 Corbon was such a hot seller!

DE hasn't even talked about making a 44 DE barrel for my 5" L5 model... I am not heart broken.

I wonder how hard it would be to neck down the 50 AE brass to 44 DE?... but I don't wonder enough enough to loose any sleep over it.

My friend bought one in stainless to add to his Desert Eagle collection. Let's just say that I don't shoot the .50 or .429 well. And man, that ammunition is not cheap.

I'm not blaming them, I'm just saying I'm out on any niche caliber available for 1 gun from 1 company. And this is not to pile on magnum research. Glock had the 45 gap, Sharp s the 25-45......maybe I'm just not an early adopter.

I’ve been following this one since it was announced. I might get a barrel eventually, but I’m not in a hurry.

It’s a bit watered down compared to the .440 Corbon, where the .429 lists a 240 gr. bullet at 1600 fps, and the .440 could reportedly push the same bullet to 1800 fps.

A poster on another forum ran some .429 over the chrono and it did come in just over the advertised 1600 fps. I have not seen reports of what the .440 actually does.

I think MRI is missing the boat a little with this one. People go to a big bottleneck cartridge to get more velocity. But MRI has reportedly discontinued the 10” barrels for the Desert Eagle. As it stands now, I can push a 240 gr. bullet to 1500 fps in the standard 6” .44 Mag. With a 10” barrel, I can get well over 1600 fps. with the .44 Mag. The .429 doesn’t seem to offer much more than what I can already do with the .44 Mag.

I’m interested to see if any of the component manufacturers develop any loads that (safely) take advantage of the increased case capacity over the .44 Mag.

That was my first thought. Boutique stuff like Buffalo Bore or heavy hand loads will see 1,600 out of the 6" barreled .44 mag, being as there's no cylinder gap. I suppose pressures might be a bit lower with the new round, but it's not like the Desert Eagle can't handle heavy loads. I have a Mk VII .44 now, but used to have a Mk XIX .50, and ran 325 gr loads in excess of 1,500 FPS.

Really an answer to a question no one would ask. I like new ideas and products but its just a more expensive 44mag witb a little more juice. Wheres the DE in 454 casull? I think that would sell.

I just got a magazine in the mail with this on the cover (no idea which one tbh). I went straight to the article to see what it was about. I'm not a fan of a bottle necked auto so I lost interest. I noticed Even their test gun wouldn't function properly.

After the 41a&e was abandoned, I'd be out on anything new or exotic from desert eagle.
*sigh* The 41 Action Express isn't a Desert Eagle caliber it's a 941 Jericho aka "Baby Eagle" caliber, and yeah the 40 S&W kinda killed the 41AE, eventhough the 41AE is the more powerful caliber, well the 41AE has a slight edge over the 40S&W, it has a slightly higher velocity and makes a slightly bigger hole, however the 41AE does have a "cult" following and those that hand load the 41AE say it can be made to warmish 41 Mag velocity.

The premise of the 41AE was to give 41 Mag "Police Load" performance in a high capacity(compaired to a 6 shot revolver) 9mm size frame semi-auto pistol.

I find myself intrigued by this new cartridge. I have an early DE 44mag, but have been wanting a Mk XIX in 50AE to go with it. Being a reloader, I would have no problem necking down a 50 AE case.

At one time, MRI made a Desert Eagle chambered in 41 mag (not 41 AE). All things considered, I'd rather see them bring that back than to create this new cartridge.
