Ha, thats amazing. And people complain about luggin' around a 1911!
I've shot the .50 DE a couple times... and cant hit the broad side of a barn!
I'll stick with the 9 and .45
I've used mine for fun in a couple bowling pin shoots and did pretty well considering. My best time on a run of 5 pins was 4.27 seconds. Takes a while to get it up into action and get back on target with it. In comparison my best .22 LR time is usually around 2 seconds.
If you can carry it comfortably and keep it out of sight I say go for it. If you ever have to use it, you know you can be confident in the performance of the round.
I need one . As a matter of fact the DE is the only pistol I have held that the grip was big enough. If anything the width of the grip could even be bigger. Being 6'6" tall and 235 pounds I could probably ccw one and it wouldn't look like like I had a 15 pound sledge hammer on me I bet it does get heavy though...
I am actually a big fan of the Desert Eagle. My dad and grandpa have Mk Is, which means I have been shooting them since before they were really popular. But I honestly never thought of them as a CCW. If I did CCW one, I would have to think a shoulder holster under a loose jacket would be more comfy, but if that works for you, by all means...go for it. No one will ever accuse you of being under gunned, at least against another handgun.
I know the penetration Nazis are going to cue in here any second, but I still have to congradulate you on a novel concept.
I kind of made this as a novelty, MTMilitiaman. Funny thing though; it ended up being much more functional than I thought. Here are some pics requested from another site:
Comparison with my "real" carry guns:
How it sits on the belt (pardon the fish white belly):
am i understanding this correctly: you made those holsters? if so do you make them for sale or just for your personal use? i'd support a board member for a holster or two
After getting a couple of requests, I'm trying to figure out if it would be worthwhile to make a few and sell them. Maybe there's a niche market for this stuff.
It would be a good excuse for me to buy a .500 S & W!
As an aside, while I do come from the school of thought that a good shoot is a good shoot, regardless of gun/caliber/load used, I imagine the use of a super-magnum class hunting handgun in a defensive shooting would raise a few eyebrows. That, and even a very solid attacker likely would not stop a heavily-constructed 325 gr. bullet moving at 1,500 FPS. I have put these loads through soft mediums that stopped my .25-06 loads with 117 gr. gamekings clocking just over 3,200 FPS.
The only time I carry my Mk XIX .50 is when I'm hunting with it. The thing is just too cumbersome.
