Well, I figured out why the packs were labelled do not reactivate. After a few minutes in the oven at 300 degrees F. the packaging melted into a plastic sludge :cuss:. I threw away the melted packaging and saved the dessicant kernals and continued drying it alone in the oven. I guess I will put it in a plastic baggy when they are done drying until I can figure what porous material I can put it in and reuse it. In the mean time my ammo will be without dessicant packs!

Kids don't try this at home if it specifically says "Do Not Reactivate"!!!!!! :(

Check the label on kitty litter at ChinaMart or any other big-box store - many are nothing but silica. I use that in nylon "anklet" stockings - also cheap at ChinaMart. When time to "recharge", just untie a knot, dump onto a flat pan, and slide into the oven.

Install a light fixture and out in a 25 watt bulb. It'll keep your safe warm enough to prevent condensation, it won't need reactivating and won't cost a fortune on your electric bill.
