I just received a couple of CZ-52s and CZ-82s from AIM. Can anyone suggest good resources for learning how to take these pistols apart -- beyond just field stripping? If there is good information available online, fantastic. Otherwise, I can certainly purchase the material.

The 82s, in particular, came heavily soaked in oil. It's light oil and should be easy to remove once I pull everything apart. One of the 52s was just the opposite. With little to no oil/grease to preserve it all these years, I want to make sure the innards are still intact.

I've field stripped, cleaned and fired one of the 52s and 82s. My first impression is that the 82 is genuinely a nice pistol! I have somewhat small hands and this fits just perfectly. We'll see how things go after a couple hundred rounds at the range.

J&G had a manual .PDF for the 52, but I don't think it goes beyond removing barrel from slide, etc., so if you're looking to tear into the receiver, it probably won't help. I don't see it on the site anymore, but I'm sure they still have it somewhere. If not, e-mail me and I'll send you a copy.

surplusrifle.com I THINK is the site that may have info on the 82. Not 100% sure that's the addy, but someone's mil-surp site has all the info you could ever want, and then some.

Hope that helps.

If I'm not mistaken info on the CZ-82 can be used for the CZ-82 model. You might want to check CZ's website and see what you can find.

TELL US WHERE YA ARE!
There may be a "high road" member willing to show you hands-on. I LOVE teaching people about the CZ-52 'cause it's such a neat little oddball.

This guy does a decent VIDEO of basic disassembly and reassembly. If you don't have experience with a CZ-52 I wouldn't go beyond this as the little nut on the side plate is easy to strip. Just soak the sucker good with some spray on breakfree and let it "drip dry".

Visit Makarov.com's CZ page for good info. Also a copy of the owners manual can be had from Makarov.com at this link (warning, PDF file)

I'll also give you my stock advice to go to Makarov.com and buy the...
-aftermarket machined firing pin
and the
-16.5 lb Wolff recoil spring.
You won't regret it.

Also a safety tip DO NOT TRUST THE DECOCKER! It's a poor design and I don't care what anyone else tells you it is NOT reliable. NEVER decock on a loaded chamber.

Thank for all the info.

ZeSpectre, I live in the "other Washington".

One thing concerns me regarding the aftermarket firing pin. The description on makarov.com says it may require modification of the extractor with a file. What's up with that?

From what I've read, the firing pin really should be replaced. However, I'd like to be able to undo any changes I make to the pistol. Undoing a file job is a bit difficult. Is there any way to tell if I'll actually need to file the extractor ahead of time -- other than simply experiencing extraction problems?

Oh found it. That's only for the "Harrington" competition firing pins which I've never used.

I was referring to this one
Machined firing pins are now available at Makarov.com. These just drop the same way the original firing pins do. Some folks have reported over 80 dry firings with no problems. See the CZ-52 shopping cart page.

It costs $28.00

OK, I see the pin you are referring to.

That video is nice too. I've found I don't really need to pull the 52 apart farther than field stripping it and removing the grips. That gives me plenty of access inside the frame to pull out the gobs of heavy grease inside.

Thanks!

Detail Strip CZ-52: Instructions Found

In case anybody else is interested, I found a step-by-step on the CZ-52 disassembly. Between these instructions and the diagrams available online, I've been able to disassemble and reassemble most of the pistol. Still have a few parts to get into before I can say I've actually detail stripped the entire thing.

For anyone else interested, the procedure can be found here:
