I had another thread going about the expected release date for Taurus' PT 1911 in 9mm. There were others who were also interested in 9mm 1911s. Since they're more scarce than .45ACP models, I decided to start a list of 9mms. There are surely more than I have listed here, but I have confined my search so far to: Full size (5 inch barrel), 9mm and fairly affordable. I realize that 'fairly affordable' is subjective. I have chosen to have a high end cut off of around $1600 MSRP. Hopefully the actual prices will be below MSRP. I have left out most high end stuff beacuse I have not researched them, because I won't be buying them.

Here is what I have found so far:

* Dan Wesson Pointman Nine - They apparently make 30 or 40 each year which makes them hard to come by new or used. MSRP $1247.

* Fusion for approx $1500 to $1600.

* Kimber Custom Aegis II MSRP $1277.

* KImber Gold Match Stainless II MSRP $1563.

* Possibly RIA. I don't know if they make a full size 9mm or not.

* S&W Pro Series MSRP $1635.

* Springfield Armory Loaded MSRP $1048.

* STI Trojan - Approx. $1000.
* STI Rangemaster - $1368
* STI Sentry - $1438
* STI Targetmaster - $1525

* Taurus' yet to be released PT1911. Release date given by Taurus of 'end of year'. They didn't say which year. MSRP for their .45s are approx. $750 - $850. I would hope the 9mm would be similar.

So this is what I'm seeing. If anyone has any to add, please do so.

Hope this helps those looking for the same thing I am.

rrarms.com sells the 5" loaded 9mm for right at $795.00 you might have to wait. try proguns.com for the same deal.

Both Star and Llama while out of business now made 1911 knock offs. These are not to be confused with the quality American 1911's but can be had very reasonably and fit your specifications. I own the Llama Omni series in 45 and 9mm and the 380, 32 and 22 in the smaller framed 1911 look alikes, all are fantastic pistols. I have had very limited experience with the large frame 1911 knockoffs though.

but the Wilson will be much more than the OP's $1600 limit.

here's a few more STI's
STI Rangemaster - $1368
STI Sentry - $1438
STI Targetmaster - $1525

Why leave out the high end?

Bullseye competition is about the only reason I can imagine to get a full-size 9mm 1911.

Oh, lord - they're the greatest thing around for range use or plinkin'. I know some folk who are recoil sensitive and who grok the 1911 platform, and the 9mm full size pistols are perfect carry guns for 'em.

My EDC is right now comprised of a rotation of 9mm full-size 1911's.

I left out the high end because I did not research the high end. I'm retired at the moment and can't spend $1500 or more on a new gun and still live in the same house with my wife. You guys can feel free to list whatever you want, I guess. People who don't want to spend a lot can disregard those.

Just list make and model and approximate cost and people can do what they want with the information.

rbernie - when I look at Kimber's site, the Custom II Family are all in .45. I'm not seeing 9mm.

I just picked up my S&W 1911 9mm Pro Series the other day,$1250.00 OTD. Took it to the range yesterday and damn, that is one nice shooter. I have 2 M&P 9's and have had many different 9's and this one will be getting a lot of use. I actually came home and sold my M&P9C that night and may even sell the full size as I don't see myself shooting them much anymore with this little gal around :D

djs764 - Thanks for the picture. I hadn't asked for pictures in my original post, but pictures are always good.

You are correct - I meant to type Stainless. Since the Stainless model is, well, their stainless version of the Custom model, I fat fiongered the name.

They offer the Stainless in both fixed and target sight configs in 9mm.
