Dewey Rod question

I am going to order my son a Dewey rod. He has an AR15 with 20" barrel & a 10/22 with stainless barrel, I don't know the length. Would both of these guns use the same diameter Dewey rod & what length would you suggest? I almost bought one at a gun show this past week end. The only length they had was 36". It seemed kinda long to me....then again maybe not. Any input? He also has an SKS. Since this isn't exactly an accurate rifle would you buy a Dewey rod for it also? Thanks Tim

Yep, same diameter for both of those rifles. I'm not aware that Dewey has a variety of lengths. I've got the 36" for a short 10/22 and a long barreled 22-250. The longer length is desirable, in my book, since you will be cleaning from the breech end when possible and possibly with a chamber fitted rod guide installed. Longer is better than shorter; it'd be hard to add some length in the event you need it later on.

I'd be worry about scratching the coating off the Dewey rod on an SKS. Give me my brass sectional rod for the SKS instead.

Dewey makes diff size rods,I believe they go as long as 44" or 46",like someone else said the longer the better if its too short you really can't extend it.If your using a bore guide your gonna need extra length anyway.The Dewey rods are very durable,I ve been using them for years and have'nt see any wear on the coatings.
