I'd posted up a short while back about Dick's Sporting Goods Savage 11VT of which I picked one up in 22-250. I decided I saved so much on the rifle, $399, I could afford to dress her up a bit. Replaced the synthetic stock with a McRees chassis in sniper gray and replaced the somewhat cheap 4-12x40 Bushnell scope with a Sight Mark 10-40x50 on Vortex matched rings. I pulled the Accutrigger all the way down to the lowest it will go which is 2 lbs, then hit the range with it today. I'd already done barrel break in before the upgrades using PPU 50 grain "cheap" stuff.
After getting on paper I went to work with Hornady Superformance 50 grain A-Max and HSM 55 grain Game Kings. This is my first experience with 22-250 and have to say I think I'm going to like the round. All groups were sub-MOA at 100 yards with the best one being 0.6", pretty sure with some more time behind the glass I can improve on that. Then there's the reloading prospect for further improvement. There's a couple old timer 22-250 varmint shooters at the range who consider anything over 1/2" at 200 yards unacceptable, I have a long way to go
In the end I think it preferred the 55 grain HSM Game Kings over the Hornady but not by much. Figured I'd share the joy and a few pictures with the good folks here are THR.
