Around 18 months ago I did a couple trigger jobs on some of my S&W revolvers. They turned out well and I had some rebound springs left over. so I ordered a few mainsprings and went to work. First up, my model 442,J frame. This gun had a 13.25+ pound trigger pull, but it was smooth feeling enough that the pull weight surprised me. I have only run maybe 500 rounds through it. I tore it down and inspected the hammer & trigger for signs of rubbing. Found a rub spot on left side of hammer where it was rubbing on the bolt. Bolt was a bit high so I sanded & stoned it down. I polished the rebound slide, breaking all sharp corners and reinstalled it with a 13 # spring. I then reassembled with a Wolff Reduced power mainspring. This resulted in a very slick, 10.6 pound trigger pull. This is right in line with what I was hoping for. My unmodified but having been fired 4000, times model 638 has a trigger pull of 10.8 pounds, so now they feel closer to the same. I may polish the RB slide in it and drop in a 14# rebound spring I have on hand to see if I can get them even closer.
I took the 442 out for a function test a couple days ago. I shot a few different rounds including reloads with CCI primers and everything fired. Its about perfect for pocket carry now

I haven't found the courage to tear in to my triggers yet. Most of my guns have acceptable as is so it hasn't been a problem.
I do have a new LCP Max that could benefit from a good polish job though.

I love to tinker with my Smith & Wesson revolvers. Here's my 686 with a tuned action. The hammer is an Apex Tactical and it has an 11 pound rebound spring. The mainspring has been replaced with a kit from Vic Pickett who no longer supplies them.
All internals have been polished and the trigger pull is set for Federal primers only. This is a competition gun. I would never do all this to a carry gun.
The bullets are 180 grain RLN that I had LBT make a special mold for me. The load is 4.5 grains of Unique and will group sub 1 inch at 25 yards from a rest.
I went on to be a Master Class shooter with this setup. It works for me but I suggest having a qualified gunsmith do your work. I apprenticed at a few gunsmiths and have most of the tools I need. They still do stuff I can't.
