First of all, it is not a good idea to go do weightlifting for 30 minutes and then go shoot. Turns out my arms weren't as steady (big surprise). But today was a beatiful day and the schedule demanded I got shooting after the gym.
Second was a lesson in cleaning. I clean my black powder revolver by taking it appart and washing/scrubbing with water and soap. I found some residue in the barrel that wouldn't go away with brushing, and then decided to use Nitro solvent spray and some patches (which I never do on it, just the smokeless guns). Patches came out black even after I had washed the barrel and scrubbed it. A few patches later and it was spotless.
I didn't realize that, hey, I'm shooting pure lead balls, maybe there's some leading! :banghead:
I hadn't spotted that residue before, I must have been looking from the cylinder end of the barrel on previous occasions I guess...
