I went to wal-mart and they prices sure did go up. Looks like everything went up about 4-5 bucks per 100 rounds. Did prices anywhere else change?? WOW i should have stocked up last week!!

I asked the guy working there and sure enough he said everything just went up

Well thats no good .. 4-5 dollars per 100 is quite a jump .. I think im going to stick to 9mm, 22lr and my AK .. those are the only ones i can afford to shoot ..

A week before Xmas I bought a bag of Lawrence brand Magnum #8.5 shot for $20.95

Five days after Xmas I went back to the same store and bought another, and it cost $24.95.

I called this past Monday for the current price and it was $30.00.

So today I decided to buy some of the field load shot that I was low on. I drove there during my lunch hour, and I was cringing all the way.

And (no surprise) it was marked up again to $34.95!

Lead prices are going thru the roof, so factory handgun/rifle cartridges and shotshells are merely following market trends.

I used to buy .223/5.56mm ammo for three-something a box.
7.62x39 for two-something a box.

Now twenty rounds of good .223/5.56 ammo is around $7 per box of twenty.

walmart $12.88 is now $14.5x for 100rounds of 9mm.

the .40 went up about 2-3 dollars , so did the .45.

sucks...............

nitesite .. I still buy my 7.62x39 for $2.86 a box of twenty .. Its monarch ammo and they sell it at academy .. i picked up 20 boxes yesterday .. who knows when they are gonna bump up the prices on that .. and also they sell monarch 9mm for $4.86/50rounds .. I havent had any problems with the ammo ..

I did some buying prior to Christmas. I knew prices were going up, so I purchased a few boxes of the stuff I normally shoot most frequently. I figured that the worst case would be that prices stayed the same.

That's the trouble with predicting the future you are wrong more often than right. I saw the comming price rise and the demand for scrap and raw materials going way up, not to mention oil (which has fallen a good bit recently as much of the run up was the fast buck boys speculating) so about a year ago I jumped on every decent ammo and component deal I found until I had no more room to put stuff anymore -- figured when my car had to pull over a couple of cases of ammo to park in the garage I was done :)

What has happened these past six months has made this the best investment I've ever made. Primers from $15/1000 to $23/1000!!! Wolf 7.62x39 from $80/1000 to $150/1000 -- you get the picture....

Went to walmart 2 days ago and bought the 250rd box of 9mm. it was $39.99. It was $34.99 earlier in the week. why the sudden $5.00 increase? I bought a 100rd box of .380 for my girlfriend and the total bill for both of those boxes was about $68.00. $68.00?!?!?! for 250rds of 9mm and 100rds of 380? that's rediculous.

On the bright side, I bought a gun this month, so we get the whole month free at the range.

I'm just glad I'm not feeding a .45 anymore. That was pricey, but these days it's like trying to commute in an SUV... too damned expensive!

Like my friend said when we were recently stocking up on Hornady bullets, that had taken about a $4 jump per hundred, "It may look high now but wait until next year".

It was just last November that I bought all the 9mm WWB that the local Wal Mart had for $4.38 a box/50, and look at it now.

I was talking to a buddy that owns a gun shop. He told me that his vendors are telling him to expect a bout a 30% increase in ammo cost this year...either in an incremental increase throughout the year or in a few cases 30% from 1/1/07 :cuss:

Wal Mart bashing is so common, threads discussing Wally World usually don't last long.

And besides, it's not just WM. I stopped by 3 gun stores this week and all have jacked ammo prices recently (Wally World is still the cheapest).

I could give a rats a$$ about how many wal*mart topics there HAS been. That does not change the fact that the prices jumped a substantial amount overnight(last night in fact), and that, was precisely what I was pointing out.
The moderation Nazi's dont seem to understand that.

Beside that how boring and dead would this place be if every repeated topic was to get shut down?

I should be quite before this thread gets locked too.

I went to Wal-Mart to stock back up today and found the same unpleasant truth as everybody else. WWB up by $2.50, 12-gauge up by $1-$3, depending on brand. Ouch. What a time to be basically out of ammo in the garage.

Same here

Just got home with 600 rounds of .45 and 400 rounds of 9mm.. out the door for around 200.. Last week it would have been closer to 160

The WWB .45 is up to $26.## per 100 and WWB 9mm up to $14.9# per 100 :cuss:

Thank god the blazer brass .45 is still only 10.97 per 50 (picked up all they had)

Yeah,it's gone up here too...just when I started shooting a .45 too....at our IDPA club we have to shoot clean fire..which is even more expensive.$17.95/box of .45...I'll be alternateing between 9 and 45 just to save money.Personally,I think it's a plot by the Brady Campaign..:uhoh:

The Wal Marts around me have gone up alot on handgun ammo and the Academys have gone up some. I try to buy as much as I can now to hedge against the future.

If lead is going up that much they really need to allow people to use more alternative metals IMHO.
Some harder metals with a plastic/teflon outer layer to engage the rifling. This legislated monopoly of lead is pretty ridiculous.
