I had contacted the NRA some time ago (years) about having rallies, marches etc. and they said ''we don't do that.'' That previous statement, some years ago, seems to conflict with what happened in DC. There was an ''NRA sponsored'' counter-protest at Washington, DC. Dana Loesch was scheduled keynote speaker but could not attend due to son extreme illness requiring emergency room treatment and hospitalization.. I do not know how it was attended...

Also, there were counter-protests in various places. The very last location is where I gleaned the DC march was in fact ''NRA sponsored.'' Again, I do not know how they were attended...

Additionally, there was a facebook entry on the DC march. I find it very odd that there was/is only 8 comments (?)...

Back to my ''seems to conflict'' comment above. What I find extra odd weird is, why no one knew of the DC Rally? With an organization so huuuge as the NRA, they didn't do a good job of promoting the Rally?
Again I don't do facebook, are there private comments on the march (linked above) but it seems there are/were a mere 8 posts in discussions?

It would seem that a minimalized 'counter-protest' was in fact mustered, but not promoted, otherwise I believe as large as THR.org is in the Pro-2A Forums arena, someone here would have known.

Why didn't 10s if not 100s of thousands of people attend the Rally if in fact the NRA pushed, promoted it??

I've gotten at least 3 emails begging for money from the NRA since the mass murder, and while I admittedly just scanned them before deleting, I didn't notice any mention of any rally.

As l think on it, any counter protest would either need to include a lot or kids ( in which case we'd be just as bad as them for using children to promote our agenda ), or be a bunch of adults protesting against kids, which would be bad optics.

So maybe laying low is the best plan for the moment.

To me this is the major problem with the NRA ... Their constant begging/shouting for money more than often drowns out the message that they need deliver/promote ....

Like you I get numerous email and paper mails and normally at best quickly "scan" before trashing ...

I have told the NRA many times that I have limited income ... to use the dollars they waste begging me to serve a better purpose.... and no I don't want a free hat or cheap knife or tee shirt ... Just do what you need to do ....

I did not know, and if I did I would not have attended the rally.

Reason: I'm on the west coast, way far to travel. If I were closer I'd have gone.

I did not know and there's nothing on this Earth that would get me to go to DC.

Lol, the city that re-elected the Coke-head, ex-con Marion Barry for Mayor? So typical of these people. A high Crime city where CCW is basically forbidden and the Crimminals are the one's with guns and the one;s who laugh at gun control. Baltimore, Houston, LA, all these places I never want to go. How about this crap hole below.

As far as the Million *(*&&^ march, lol, I sure don't want to be in a place like that. I would bet 80% of them could not legally purchase a gun if they wanted to. My local gun ranges have filled up with them on the weekends and it appears from talking to the Range, that about 80% rent a gun. And of course these are folks that will never vote for the NRA, will vote anti gun politicians all day.

I did not know about it but counter rallies are seldom successful. So yesterday I chose instead to donate to the SFA and I still continue to purchase one year memberships in the NRA for anti-gun local radio talking heads.

Yes DC would be kinda far for me also. And I would have no 'free ride' via some hi paid hollywood liberal elitist. However, as the 2nd link points out, there were in fact other sattelite rallies
Again, for clarity...

The point is, and I will clarify via phone call tomorrow, does the NRA support rallies at all? And if so, where is the next one?

Pretty sure the few pro rallies that did happen were super counter productive. Here's just one photo of one in UT making the social media rounds, with this messaging around it:

Yeah, it's a propane gun. Which is an even stranger choice, then.

Not unrelated: I looked up what was up with the non-government Bearcat. Not sure any of this helps the PDs trying to get their own rescue vehicles, either.

Messaging issues abound.

I'd feel lost in a rally. What I choose to do is take every opportunity to express my concerns. I don't argue with idiots. There is no gain in doing so. I have no problem stating what I believe to be the truth and I won't do less.

"I had contacted the NRA some time ago (years) about having rallies, marches etc. and they said ''we don't do that.''"

They don't.

It wasn't an NRA rally. It was a smaller group who supposedly had Loesch scheduled to speak (but she had a sick child and didn't attend).

Checking the NRA FB page and their own websites don't show any scheduled counter march.

I'm going to close this one since it isn't accurate in the basic premise.
