They had a sale at the local sporting goods store. $130 for the Heritage .22 L.R. western style single action revolver.

I was remiss to buy it at first as the creeps in the store would not remove the trigger lock so that I could feel the trigger pull. Oh well, it looked decent so I took it home. It is well made-tight (no loose parts) shoots well and besides the painted frame, it looks downright pretty.
The magnum cylinder is available for $30 should I ever decide to purchase it.
I'm glad I took the leap as these will probably be going up in price just as the Chiappa 1911 did in the not so distant past.

I have not been impressed by some of the fitting I have seen on those, but am withholding judgement until I have had a chance to see and handle them more. Maybe you will be willing to let us know how yours works.

Jim

I have been tempted a couple of times too. I own several .22 handguns but no revolvers. I also find it kind of an oddity since it is the only revolver I have ever seen with a safety.

They sure seem like a lot of gun for the money.

Bought a pair for Christmas gifts when Academy ran them for $99 on black Friday.

The two young men that got them really like em'. Good little revolver to learn about handguns on. No issues that I have heard. I do know their dad ended up getting one for himself.

Oh, yeah. I've bought cheap pistols. The HRR, with both cylinders, is one of them. I like it a lot, too.

It joined, among the "cheap", a Jennings J22, a Hi-Point C9, and a Phoenix HP-22A, none of which I've had any problems with.

Most guys seem happy with their heritage revolvers. I wasn't in any capacity. Maybe I got a lemon.

Hope yours shoot straight and I would highly recommend to shoot only 22lr through it. Magnums will only increase the rate of wear on the cheap metal or at least it seemed to on my example.

I did buy a hi point pistol once. It was a 45 and heavy. It was also surprisingly accurate and reliable. Takedown was t as easy as current designs but for $150ish I had no complaints.

I like mine.

Yup, inexpensive, but I still think it's a great value. Others may argue, but I'm not gonna argue with em. Keeps the price down for the rest of us!

I've bought inexpensive guns before. A used CZ 52 pistol and an NAA Mini-Master (with both LR and Mag cylinders). The CZ is an impressive piece of engineering, but it looked like a previous owner had shot surplus ammo out of it without cleaning it immediately after. Still, it is an interesting gun to own. The Mini-Master is all sorts of fun to shoot.

One of my brothers bought an old Saturday night special in .380 from his girlfriends Dad. What a junker. I don't remember what brand it was, but I do remember looking it up in the bluebook of gun values and it was something along the lines of $20. It shot okay, a few malfunctions, though. It was not very ergonomic, so it rarely gets shot.

Price is supposed to reflect value, but sometimes the market gets tripped or tricked, and you can get expensive garbage or inexpensive quality. I hope this is an example of the latter. Good luck with it!

I like mine. Has the four clicks when cocking. Only ugly part is the safety, but it works well and a fine plinker. 22-22mag for 149.00. Solid bargain.

Didja ever buy a cheap pistol?

Yup- $125 in 1989/90 for an arsenal rebuild .38 Enfield No 2, Mk 1 DAO and $180 in 1997 for an 99% condition blued .357 Ruger Police Service-Six.

Both have been 100% reliable & accurate shooters, and still serve in a defensive role to this day.

The only cheap handgun I've ever bought was a Russian Nagant.

I would like to buy other cheap guns, but if I'm going to buy a gun it needs to offer me something more than just a low price. I already have a single six with two cylinders so I don't see the HRR doing it for me.

I've spent less than $100 on a bunch...mosin 91s, an M44, a couple SMLE, a Swiss K31, a star super modelo B, and an FIE Titan II that the guy practically paid me to take.
I paid more for a hi-point 45 than I did for any of those.

I miss the days of cheap surplus rifles!

Edit:
Sorry about the addition of rifles to my list....my happy fingers started flyin and I forgot this was about just pistols

I have shot a couple of them and for the money, they seemed fine.

I have bought a few cheap pistols with mixed results.
I am happy with the two Taurus pistols I have.
I had a S&W Sigma that I hated and it got traded off.

No. I learned a long time ago that you don't get something for nothing. Besides, I like things that work & (with firearms) things that are safe.

Some guns are cheap cause of their condition, some because of their brand, some because of their construction.

I like cheap guns of the first two varieties because I like to tinker. I enjoy my $500 SIG P226 along with the other relatively expensive ones, and I enjoy my $65 Spanish Vest Pocket .25acp (it needed a lot of tinkering) along with my other cheap ones.

I have quite a few handguns and long guns that I paid $200 or less for that are very good. In some cases it was due to knowledge/research, in some cases it was just getting lucky on a good deal. I am a big fan of military surplus. It's not at all impossible to get a very good firearm for a low price, if you know what you are doing. One of my favorites is my Star Super B that I got a couple of years ago for $200 + shipping and FFL. It is a high quality pistol for a very good price. Some say, "You get what you pay for!" My response is that knowledge and patience are also forms of payment.

`I have had a cheap 22 revolver last 25 years or so On of those assembled in Miami guns. I bought used . Has been shot a zillion times teaching my kids to shoot . Shooting unwanted varmints out here in country. It finely jammed up . The cyl. has worn out Where the lever turns cyl when you cock it the teeth their are worn out. . The Heritage is on my buy list . Need a good 22 revolver out here in country . I got my Rossi 22 pump but pistol much handier.

Yep.

Iver Johnson Cadet 55-S, $100. Looked to be unfired.

Pietta 1851 steel frame, $100 because some idiot scratched it up trying to get the wedge out.

Makarov PM, $125. Brand new.

Taurus TCP, $169. Brand new.

Ruger Single Six, $175. This one wound up going to my brother. Has some minor flaws but solid and shoots well.

Astra Cadix .22LR, $175. Excellent condition, bought through Guns Interntional

Ruger Super Blackhawk SS 5.5", $350. Pawn shop find, looked like new. 2010 production, purchased it from the pawn shop Jan 2012.

Almost forgot another pawn shop find. Picked up an NAA Sidewinder for $149 right after this last Christmas.

All these prices were OTD as Montana has no sales tax. I did pay $20 FFL fees on 2 of them, the Mak and the Astra.

I'm always keeping an eye out for deals. Sometimes I wait too long and miss out, and sometimes I just lack the funds.
Once in a while the planets align and I score a good deal.

H&R single action revolvers are good based on the one I have. 22 mag snake shot is pretty effective. Put it to good use after all the rain last Spring.

I bought a Jennings 380 pistol. It worked, but the beaver-tail was undersized and I cut the web of my hand shooting it. It has been buried in the closet ever since.

I got a Firestorm 380 which was is a clone of the Bersa 380. I sold it to a guy at work. It is now his wife's gun. Always worked well. Good buy for the price at the time.

Lots of cheap guns can be serviceable firearms. The ones that are junk, it isn't a secret and you can find out online. The biggest question is what you are using it for. If you have the funds, better guns often have better triggers or are more accurate. Sometimes a name brand is better to keep down the road.

well I just bought three heritage pistols this past few months one I bought was the heritage 22lr/22mag 6 1/2in barrel I found Remington golden bullets in 22lr work pretty good but with 22mag it loves cci 50gr and are going to see if it likes the 40gr bullets soon! but I like this pistol overall only gave $169 for this combo model :) plus I bought a heritage big bore 45 colt with 4 3/4in barrel I load .457 lead 250gr bullets I cast with 6.8gr greendot powder and this pistol shoots clean accurate and handles perfectly so I bought the same pistol again and now have two of these 45 colt revolvers and I just love these two fine handguns, gave $389 a piece for these and are super happy with them! :)

I guess poster Shaq has corrected me in that, because my Jennings, Heritage, Phoenix, and Hi-Point guns work and are safe, they are not "cheap." I had posted that they were.

Yes. I bought some KelTec pistols back in the day. Then I realized they were cheap and sold them.
