Looking at two different types of FAL's. One is the R1A1 from JG and the other G1 from Atlantic Firearms. Other then the presence bi-pod on the G1 is there any major difference?

Both of those are Century rifles, and will probably have parts from both! The G1 should have the metal handguards and bipod, and I think that the R1A1 is an inch receiver, but don't quote me on that.

There was a pretty good write up on FalFiles about the newer G1s that Century is building.

Century Frankenfals.

The DSA "IMBEL" rifles currently available for $1000 or so are five times better.

For $800 or so, the Entreprise FAL (which also uses an IMBEL parts kit) is definitely better than Century.

The only Century FALs I would touch are the old ones made on IMBEL receivers. Anything else I would avoid.
