What is the difference in the .38 Special S&W Model 60 "Lady Smith" and the .38 Special S&W Model 36 in the "Lady Smith". I have had a S&W Model 60 in .38 before, but never a Model 36. I know they are "J" Frames but what else is the difference??

The Model 60 was the first Stainless J frame whereas the Model 36 was usually Blue Steel even though there were a few Nickel M36's available. For the most part they are the same revolver something like the M19 and M65.

Aside from the steel used, the Model 60 is also a .357 Magnum, the Model 36 was never made for the magnum cartridge. Early Model 60s were chambered for the .38 Special, but they upgraded it soon after it was introduced. If you like revolvers, the J frame was designed as a discreet carry piece and it is an excellent one.

I don't think the Model 60 was upgraded to .357 "soon" after it was introduced. The .38 60 came out in what, 1965 ? I don't think it became a .357 until at least 20 or 25 years later.

Is the M36 a good firearm for everyday carry?

OH YES! Always has been. I've got this one in my pocket holster as we "speak."

S&Wfan,
What's with that target? Not only is it huge but the "holes" don't look like holes at all. They look like yellow cut-outs placed on top of a very large picture. Why are they higher than the background? They look 3 dimensional.

Very nice revolver BTW...

"What's with the target" is that he apparently printed the text on it upside down--probably by inverting the target picture when he brought it in to his editing software to add the text.

The shadow detail points to a lightsource below the image--which, of course, is counterintuitive to our brain, so we interpret the holes as being a 'raised' surface.

I just tried printing the target--and if you turn it upside down, it looks just fine.
