I have been under the impression S&W 38 special revolvers in model 36 were Blue Carbon steel and the stainless version model 60 was introduced in 1965 and a few of these stainless 60's saw action [my era] in VietNam.

Now I am seeing on the auction sites model 36's -not model 60's- that are stainless...is seeing believing ?

What's the real fact on 36 in stainless vs 60 in stainless...

Why the heck would smith make BOTH?

The model 36 that looks like stainless is nickel plated. Sometimes they are advertised wrongly by the seller. Great little guns BTW..:)

W62 is correct. Some folks don't know nickel from stainless.

If a S&W is stainless, the model number will start with a "6". 60, 66, 629, etc.
