I have the GL101Y aleady. Those are the Trijicon HD night sights, yellow outline on the front sight, blacked out rear sight, all green tritium.

They look something like this

However, as I shop around I am seeing GL101Y-RY listed separately at many retailers, described as "yellow rear". What are these? How are they different? I have not yet seen, in person, pictures, or videos, anything that would qualify as "yellow rear" for Trijicon HD night sights.

Example listing:

I believe the tritium vials in the rear sight are yellow, instead of green. This helps I very low light conditions, because you have two colors, making the green front sight easier to differentiate from the yellow rear dots.

That is the only thing I can think of, but on the Trijicon website and in the Trijicon PDF/full catalog, they clearly show the HD sights only being all green (bright and tough do have yellow rear as an option).

I'm hoping it's yellow rear lamps because I really like that, my guns all had Ameriglo Pro Operator green front/yellow rear before I discovered trijicon.

Although in full disclosure it may actually help me if they don't offer rear lamps in yellow (ever) since I already have three sets in all green and would end up wanting the yellow rears lol

My method is I use a Sharpie on the rear lamps. Shooting close and fast you just notice the front. If you need a precision shot, the rears glow dimmer, it works well.

I haven't looked through yellow rear and green front, but you'd still have 3 bright dots floating in the blackness that look almost the same.

No, you wouldn't. The green is brighter than the yellow, and they definitely look different. It's a very nice setup. Find some to try.

Trijicon confirmed that it is indeed yellow for the rear lamps.

I also inquired about a yellow rear tritium set for FNS9/c pistols but apparently the Glock set (which isn't actually available yet, still waiting) is the only HD night sight set being regularly produced with yellow in the rear.

However, it seems that if you are willing to pay $38 more, they will swap yellow lamps into the rear sight for you.
