I was looking over Beretta Cheetahs recently (the 84 and 85 models.) They look identical but I was wondering what the differences were between the 84 and 85 models. Which would be a better buy?

Thanks.

The main differences are that the 84 has a double-stack, 13-round magazine, while the 85 has a single-stack, 8-round magazine, with a correspondingly slimmer grip (although neither are excessively large).

There is also a Model 86, which combines the 85's grip/magazine with a tip-up barrel.

The models 84 and 85 are still made. The 86 is out of production, whether permanently or not, I don't know.

Which would be a better buy?

They are usually about the same price or close enough. It depends on whether you want a flatter grip or not...otherwise they are identical.

The 86 would be the one to get for someone who has difficulty racking the slide because of the "Jetfire on steroids" tip up barrel -- got one for my wife to take her CHL test with. Expensive, but no regrets, she loves it.

Between the 84 and 85 its just do you want double or single stack mags?
