Hi all,
I'm thinking about geting the new SIG 556 but absolutely hate the appearance of the fore-end and collapsable stock (that'll be changed out with something else-already found its replacement). Anyone know of anything aftermarket that will fit if the factory 550/551 stuff won't go on (or unobtainable)? Thanks in advance!

The 556 will accept any forearms designed for the Swiss 55x series of rifles, including the standard plastic one as well as the B&T Quad Rails. Ask around at SigForum - there are some folks on there that have successfully acquired the Swiss handguards. I believe they are inconvenient to obtain in comparison to AR15 guards, but they are not overly rare as I understand it.

DS Arms is a dealer of B&T stuff:

They have selection fo quality quad rails for 55x rifles that should fit the 556. I am not sure which one of the 55x rails fits the 556, though - ask around.

Personally, I think the look of an ACE Skeleton stock with a standard Swiss handguard gets you close to the traditional look, albeit without the folder.

Yeah, there are bunch of guys that have done all sorts of customizations to their 556 rifles. They have a variety of looks. Some guys have come pretty close to the original look. Good luck.
