So I have issues from time to time with the primer bar sticking.

My 450 machine is second hand and has a very well used past.

Looking at the bar the primer pin and retaining cup sleeve sets above the bar and the bar does not make contact anywhere else.

I lubed the side and bottom of bar with 3 in 1 oil and loaded 500 45 acp issue free.

Is there a contamination possibility doing this?

I use brake cleaner to clean primer punch and retaining sleeve each time I load.

I know primer dust/ debris could be an issue if not cleaned from machine in a oil paste

I don't do a major cleaning and lube of my 550 that often but do clean and lube the priming system frequently. It's that nastiest working environment of the press.

Glad that worked for you…
I am the opposite, I clean the priming parts with alcohol and use NO lubricant.
I did purchase the extended primer track bearing from UniqueTek and that seems to really smooth things out…….IMO….

ETA…..
The slight amount of oil you used is not gonna contaminate anything……

cleaned up some wording and added link.
