Hello, I have a problem with loading that when I deprime my cases, I get a bunch of spent primers spitting out and laying on the the shelf of the press and not into the cup. Then when I pull the handle down it gets stuck due to spent primers laying on the press. What could be causing this? It seems like they start to accumulate with 1-3 primers and then drop out of the metal chute below the shell plate. A lot of them don't even go in the dispensed primer cup. They shoot out on the the floor. Anyone have any ideas?

The primer chute is sticking open. Run the carousel up and you will see it on the bottom side. It's cammed using a hinge point, so it's supposed to open and close based on the ram movement, but it can occasionally get stuck. Tilt the lower piece manually to the closed position. If it doesn't stay there you may have to lube the pin.

Replace the cotter pin with a piece of paper clip. The cotter pin is nice but it binds. Paper clip wire is free and takes only a minute to solve permanently. Make the bend clearance generous.

That took care of the Dillon people. How about a RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme?
Put a straw inside the ram, cut it to just clear the shell holder. Remove the straw if priming on press.

Thank you, I am going to try this. Makes sense sense the paper clip is round..martinb3152

paper clip or in my case a piece of stainless wire that was left over from a fishing lure. Works like champ....this particular issue is so well documented I cant figure out why Dillon has never fixed it. Allot of people also add a small piece of Aluminum or Brass above the chute to help spent primer to funnel incorrectly. You stick it to press using some double sided tape or foam mounting.

I replaced the cotter pin with a large safety pin cut in half and bent on the end to keep it in place, worked better than the paper clip for me. Smoother and stiffer than the paper clip. ymmv
