Dillon Eliminator Vs RCBS 5-0-5 Powder Scales

I'm looking at buying a new powder scale and trying to decide between the Dillon Eliminator and RCBS 5-0-5. The specs are comparable with the Dillon for $55 and the RCBS at $90. I believe both of these scales are made by Ohaus. Why such a price difference? Anyone experienced with these scales? Any comments or recommedation would be very much appreciated.

I love my Dillon scale! It's accurate, inexpensive, and very easy to use. Don't know why such a big price difference. You won't go wrong with either, but price wise, Dillon gets my vote.

I've had my 5-0-5 for 15 years and it's still doing just fine.

I love my 5-0-5 but I hear the Dillon is the exact same working parts. Just a different base. Don't know if it's true, but I've heard it from more than one place.

Get the Dillon, I like mine. Made by Ohaus only this one's Blue.

I had a 505 and eliminator as of last week. Both made by Ohaus, they looked identical, only difference that I could tell was that the RCBS has a ounce to grain conversion table on the side and of course the color difference.

I had an old 5-10 scale that was probably older than I am and it wasn't quite coming to rest at the exact same spot every time with a check weight, I shipped it to RCBS for repairs and I guess they were unable to repair it. They no longer make the 5-10 scale and I think I was grinning ear to ear for a week when I opened the box with the returned scale to find a brand new model 1010 in it's place. RCBS knows how to build customer loyalty.

With all that said, if I were looking at a NEW 505 or Eliminator I'd have to save my money and buy Dillon, yet another company that knows how to build customer loyalty.

I use the RCBS 5-0-5 and it works like a champ. I bought it because it's what the local store had in stock. If they had have had a Dillon I probably would have bought it instead.

Honestly, I'd buy whichever was easier and cheaper, which will likely be the Dillon. Both good companies, both good customer service (at least they have been in my case) and basically the same scale.

I've owned a 5-0-5 for 34 years. Mine was cursed, when new it would stick before you knew it the charge was way over. I sent the scale back to Ohaus who said there was nothing wrong with it. Finally fixed it myself with a jewelers file to the pivots.

I'm a big fan of anything with the Dillon name on it, they stand behind what they sell.

I have one of each and can't tell the difference. Both are made by Ohaus.
