Not sure if this is new, but i saw it last night and thought it was interested. Mike Rowe was tailing a storm drain cleaning crew. when he asked the guy "what was the most interesting thing you've found in storm drains" the guy responded "6 guns and 4 million dollars in counterfeit money". He went on to say that all 6 guns had been used in robbery/crime and that LE was involved.

i guess its just a reminder: if you're going to use a gun to do bad business, don't throw it in a storm drain ;)

this kind of led me to think of otherthings though. I was at an antique store and they had an authentic cap n ball revolver. The lady said she got it from an estate sale. if i were to buy it, or find one like it somewhere, how on earth could I legally own said revolver? Would I need to contact BATF or something? just curious

Most blackpowder muzzleloading firearms, and replica thereof, are exempt from most FEDERAL firearms restrictions. If it is a working, functional handgun, you need to check with either local LE websites, or a local gunshop with knowledgeable people, to see if your state/county/town/etc requires something for muzzle loading handgun purchase.
For example, AZ requires that you do nothing stupid with it.

Cap and ball revolvers, and all black powder firearms, are not considered firearms by federal law. You buy it just like you would a clock or a plate.

I'm kinda confused. Why would you not be able to legally own the revolver you mention? It's no different than owning any other handgun.

Spend more time in Utah, less in Canada, for starters...

About 25 years ago (sigh... feeling old...) was playing pool with some friends, and we had a guy who kept losing, and kept going double or nothing...

So, we are playing a game for about $50ish, and he augurs in... Reaches in his pocket, comes out with one of those little brass-frame .22 deringers. Everyone in the joint hit the floor. He just looked sheepish, and asked if it was good for the wager...

Bar cracked down on gambling around the pool tables, and the deringer went down a storm drain - I had no idea where it'd been, and didn't want to find out.

A guy at a factory I worked at found a luger stuffed into a sofa that was part of a shipment of damaged Casino furniture we we reupholstering. Several of the Barstools had bullet holes in them.
I don't think the Luger was used in the shootings, I figure that a patron had dumped his piece when the cops started to show up.

I once worked for Busch Gardens in Va and while cleaning the side of the road found a Rossi 357 with 4 discharged in a bag with $385 and some weed.......I turned in most of it:scrutiny:

"Here, officer. I found these 4 empty shell casings and this 5 dollar bill beside the road. I didn't know if they'd be of any value to you in some investigation."

I turned in most of it.
When I started my career as an electrician, we did a lot of residential work. You wouldn't believe the stashes we occasionally found in attics....

When I was a kid, I saw what looked like a .38 snubnose in a storm drain down the street from my house. Called the police, they had public works come fish it out. Turns out it was a blank gun.

When I was about twelve years old, one of my friends dropped my black plastic "Johnny Tarheel" toy SMG down a storm drain. Of course we went home and got a crowbar and popped off the grate, and a passing inconsiderate motorist dropped a wheel into the void. The guy saw us, he was just a jerk... serves him right, but I never got my toy gun back.

I guess the moral is stay away from storm drains? Or else it's the opposite... can't decide.

i wish people would leave guns in the stormdrains around here. all i ever found was a 20 dollar bill i fished out with a stick with gum stuck on the end of it.
